I suspect they would not be happy about filings, shavings, scrapings, glue, paint...
Lego they might be OK with.

One could write some back stories or sketch some ideas.

When I was in the RAF Halton hospital in 1953 I actually built 4-5 kits. They sold them in the NAAFI shop, and once the other RAF guys on the ward found out I could do a half decent model, they all had me building kits for them.  ;D I was WELL supplied with sweets and biscuits in exchange.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

What do they think about building plastic models while in hospital?  ;D ;D

Actually, I don't think I have the energy. Tbh, I sleep like 20 hrs a day and fight to keep my eyelids open for the rest of the time. Fighting major infections is apparently tiring stuff.

Sometimes your body just needs to shut down & stop wasting energy, so it can put all it has available into fighting to keep you alive.

I suggest you eat & sleep, &, when you feel the need, vent as loud & long as you want!

I know I've been taking medications that are making me tired and drowsy all the time. Six out of nine meds I take say they will make me dizzy and sleepy. Might be worth checking and see if something else would be better.

Have any of the Medical Professionals taken into account the combined effects of all those sleep-inducing meds?
Or are you the 'Index/Test Case'?

Damn, dude!! Through the ringer with you.  Not cool. You'll come out the back end of this thing with some hellacious stories to tell so at least there's that. It's always hell going through this stuff but there's an odd sort of satisfaction gained once on the other side and completely recovered. Enduring a trial by fire....   once you've weathered the ordeal, you'll feel like a boss.

Hoping for relief for you...

That's a good question to ask Friday when I meet the endocrinologist again. I don't know about test case but it sure can be a PITA.  :banghead:
I sure hope I can get out the other side and get back normal!

As some of you might remember, my youngest (8 yo) and I had started on a Skyhawk before I went to hospital. As it turned out, this Skyhawk came to mean more than at least I had expected.

When I had to go to the ER, my 8 yo son was really scared (I was in an awful shape).and as time went on without me coming home again, his angst and sorrow increased. Every night, I called him to say goodnight, and the pain of hearing him fighting to be brave was by far harder to bear than anything the hospital put me through (not that they didn't try to beat it, but).
By the end of last week, he cried on the phone and wanted to go to sleep with that sticky Skyhawk model in his bed. He was so sad and longed so much, and this, our project together, came to be a symbol for me to him, and hence, he wanted it in bed. This really broke my heart, and I cried myself to sleep that night.

At home, my wife managed to save the Skyhawk (and my sons skin) and at the hospital I realised I really had to stop mucking about. I needed to get home. ASAP.
Hence I moved to learn to sort myself out, learning to flush and maintain my drains, and to assemble, fill and dose my own injection syringes.
And it has paid off. I'm at home now. I still have tubes in my body, loads of pills and two injections daily, but I am home!

And having hugged (and cried a fair bit, not least me) we took up where we left, and as the only things left to do was decalling and applying matt varnish, the Skyhawk now is ready. My sons first build on his own as well as his first whif. And forever a memory that'll bring tears to my eyes.

I think he did really well.

As you can see, he chose her to serve in the RSwAF, 7th Wing. Here, she's armed with a SAAB Rb05 command controlled missile in addition to her standard cannons.

WELL DONE YOUNG PELLSON   and well done you too, for producing a new whiffer!

Delighted to hear you are home.  Please pass on my congratulations to the young gentleman who has created a very good looking piece of Whiffery!!  Perhaps the pair of you might wish to discuss  a suitable backstory?

What a touching story Pellson!  Great to read you're back home

And the swedish Skyhawks looks really good!

Congrats and enjoy the people at home.

Indeed, well done to everyone, for all the reasons already mentioned.

Glad you're back home and recuperating (though not as glad as you and the family, I bet!), and keep it up!

In time, maybe. I think there's a lot of enemy armoured vehicles in the garden needing to be shot up first.  ;)

We'll see. I might give the Skyhawk a thread of its own over in the projects folder, and if so, there might be a backstory too.

I think the lad's done brilliantly!

Of course, he had a highly capable teacher & the genetics to do well. ;)

I know a positive mindset doesn't fix everything but it certainly changes things for the better!

Good that you're home.  May your recovery continue along the route you have chosen for it.
