We all know that's the correct way forward, but how many of us pursue it ?

Good question.

One I'm not prepared to answer...  ;)

Ah. Saturday. Nice.

Enjoying some well deserved laziness, I seem not to get too much done modelling wise despite taking a proper day off any other duties. However, as I most likely will live yet another day, I won't let that bother me too much.
Instead, I have continued fiddling with the Draken backstory, rewriting the factual RW parts as I have come by better sources and further finetuned the what-if parts to better adapt to what I actually am building. And, actually, I find this work rather rewarding. Its interesting to perform the research and really good fun to make reality merge with my fantasy as seamlessly as possible.

Speaking of Drakens - Having dryfitted some Heller parts on the J35B project, I am now rather certain that I can build a decent Sk35C trainer from Heller leftovers and another old Revell kit. Ideally, I would like to find a late reissue as it comes with some extra parts in comparision with the original one. Mainly missile pylons and drop tanks, but also, it seems, a better radome. While these tend to appear on our local Evilbay subsidiary every now and then, quite naturally, there's none to be seen just when I'm feeling a need.

In dispair, I went to a reasonably nearby toystore that has had one of these gracing a shelf for ages, but it seems someone else beat me to the idea despite the price beiong somewhat overly optimistic, as far as I can remember. Instead, there was an even dearer Mistercraft rip-off in its place. As someone had opened the box to have a look (or nick parts, I didn't check), I could have a quick look at the sprues, and unfortunately, it's not an option, being significanly more crude than the original, and more importantly, having replaced the original two-piece canopy with one, rather thick and crude part. And I would need the original wind screen for my trainer.

Scavenging the international Evilbay, there is an original one in the US, but given recent trade development, it has to be considered out of reach. Plus it's around $70 once delivered! There is another one in the UK, but whoever priced that certainly is an optimist: £150, plus another £20 in freight!! Really!?!?

Anyway, it looks as if I will have to bide my time, waiting for an unsuspecting prey to wander by locally. Irritating, as I was in the mood..
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Sometimes the anticipation makes the eventual Kill score even more satisfying...  ;)

Re-writing the RW story of anything can be great fun, specially when you can tweak it just enough so readers have to think REALLY hard to figure out that it really IS a re-write.  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
