Ladies, Gentlemen and things; I present to you a shiny new thread , created in the darkest foundries of  the interweb .  To  remain pristine and unsullied until 12.01am on 1st January, this is that location where esteemed compatriots may comment on  additions to their bookshelves (and, knowing you lot, indulge in all sorts of fascinating digressions and thread drifts).  It has been made available early, in order to avoid last minute panic and scurrying around when the stroke of midnight sweeps towards you tomorrow night.

Incidentally, a peaceful, prosperous and styrene filled New Year to you all.

I picked up a copy of " Luftwaffe, Secret bombers of the third Reich' £6.99 from Tesco.
130 pages of blueprints, line drawings and concept artwork, with photos to match.
A Whiffers paradise, some of the designs are very similar to those on this site whilst others are wacky- a kitbashers dream.
A good reference book.

Added a bit of  cash to what remained on the Waterstone's card and picked up :

Breaking Point of the French Army - The Nivelle Offensive of 1917.

Always wanted to read up a little more on this as it had such a huge effect on French society/history.

Not military or model related, but I picked up the following with Christmas gift cards that I had:
a) STAR WARS: Catalyst (Prequel novel to Rogue One.)
b) Rogue One
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

So do we see some Sino/Japanese War wifs in your future ?

Splashed out Christmas money on  THE OXFORD HISTORY OF ENGLAND  14 of the 16 volumes for £52.  Not bad considering it's £35 a volume new.  If anyone does have the Thirteenth Century  or Fourteenth century   volumes going spare at a reasonable price, I'm sure that a deal involving pictures of Her Majesty could be arranged.    I also paid £2  for a fairly academic tome on "First World War Naval Aviation...its development and influence"   So that's my light bedtime reading for the next few months!!

Ordered it yesterday. Used to love going through the model companies catalogues at this time of year.

Has that bloke up the sharp end got a harpoon or a boathook?.....and if it's a harpoon, is this their latest secret weapon for dealing with submarines?
