Got the new 1/72nd Xtradecal AW-101 Merlin decal sheet. Very impressed donkey covers most users including the Royal Navy HC3 and HC4. What's even better is that when they issued the 48th set I emailed Hannants and asked about them scaling it to 72nd. Dave Hannant replied himself sounding skeptical but said he would look into it and now we have a sheet .

Hopefully the aftermarket boys will step up and do some update sets, and maybe italeri will release the AW-101 Ceaser CSAR version they have lined up for 2017 as that's the Merlin with the bigger nose.

Ironically the only versions that don't appear to have decals or a kit is the Italian Navy ASW & AEW versions !, never been done by Italeri either as they just did the Utility version in Italian service.

Also received was the Blackbird Resin conversion set for the Neptune to do the RAF MR1 version, go nicely with Freightdog's Decals.

Ooooh, I'm tempted to get one of those too. I had the Falcon vacform conversion for that but managed to make a right hash of it, and abandoned the idea, but I still have the base kit.

I was living at RAF Topcliffe when they first arrived, and they looked IMMENSE compared to the Lancasters they were replacing. I couldn't understand how they managed to fly with only half the number of engines of the Lancs.  ;D ;)

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

After a few months without buying any modelling related products, last night i ordered a few items.
From ebay sellers, Eduard cockpit PE set for 1/48 Hasegawa F-16, Orange Hobby mask set for 1/72 F-35C.
From Bigcat.com.pt, a bottle of Microsol and 1x Trumpeter 1/72 Mig-29SMT 9-19.
I'm also going to my LHS today to get some Tamiya paints but we all know how that normally works out...

So, the PE and the mask set were delivered...

...but the Mig-29 was actually not in stock so this came in it's place...

;D No need to have your eyes check then.
But it could be the F-2000 for all i care, it's a whif anyway.
The kit looks absolutely gorgeous in the box and if it builds as good as some say it does, then it's a very good kit in all aspects.
Although i bought the F/A version, it's going to be an F with modern air to air missiles.

Sounds like a plan!

Also, now I'm wondering what an F-5 fuselage with Mirage 2000 delta wings would look like.

Something almost like a saab gripen? IMHO, take away the canards and it's not very different.
