AHHHHH yes.... Supermarine Spitfire Mk 1...  "NEW!!!!"    ;D

Shapewise, it was the best of the 70s Spitfires (apart from, perhaps, the Heller 16) and it's still quite well regarded now.  It benefits from some extra detailing in the cockpit and some minor rescribing (hatches, mainly), but other than that, it's a cracking little kit.

I have quite a few salted away that I know I'll never build simply due to it being superseded by their 2010 tooling now available as a mk IIa/Va.

Had a few of those Bellona "books" back in the day  The price on the Camouflage and Markings book shows its age...6/- or 30 new pence  ;D

A (rightfully) cheap 1:72 PM Model Fokker XXI - with the plan to turn it into a biplane, with the help of recently leftover Gladiator wings...
Operator undecided yet. Denmark, perhaps...? I like the two-tone pre WWII scheme, used on the RW Fokker XXIs.

A parcel arrived today from Hobby Link Japan (surprisingly quickly given in my usual miserly way I chose the cheapest postage).
It contained, all 1/72;
Arii (LS) Mitsubishi Ki-46iii Dinah Interceptor.
Smer (Heller) Breguet 693.
Special Hobby Sikorsky CH-37B Mojave.
Tamiya (Italeri) Sukhoi SU-34 Strike Flanker.

A cracking kit, that.

Bags of Whiffing potential, I must have opened mine 20 times so far and still haven't glued anything to anything.  ;D ;)

Absolutely, the box of mine is now full of drool after I had a good grok when it arrived.  I've been resisting the temptation for ages but then I saw one in the flesh at Model Expo...

Rescued from the clutches of the local postal service hide out

1 x 1/72 RAREplanes North American FJ-1 Fury
1 x 1/72 RAREplanes Bell P-59B Airacomet

Not decided if the Fury will be anything other that r/l, the Airacomet could well end up as Nationalist Chinese

Visited my local model (railroad) shop yesterday for some paints, and when I left I came across their "special offer" heap at the entrance - normally you get 2nd hand railroad tracks or HO scale buildings, or some really dull model kit. But then I saw a Matchbox Lockheed Lightning (1st boxing) and an Intaleri B-25G Mitchell, which caught my attention. Then I saw the price tags of EUR 2,00,- and 4,99,- respectively, and that there many more kits in the heap (obviously from a 2nd hand collection/kit pile), so I started digging...

I should not have, because I left the shop with (all 1:72):
Frog Bearcat
Frog Spitfire Mk. XIV w. a V2
MPM La-9/11
Airfix Whirlwind
Matchbox P-38 Lightning
Heller Me 163 (with the transporter)
Heller Breguet 693
Italeri Ju 188
Italeri Bf 110 G night fighter
Italeri Do 217 night fighter

The pile for EUR 40,-, I all complete, I could not resist...  :banghead:

Which war though?

The fight by the Communists with the Nationalist Chinese lasted until after WWII with major hostilities ending in 1950 so plenty of scope for slightly older aircraft to be passed onto a failing ally is entirely plausible.

Just after WWII, so during the Chinese Civil War
