Excellent, they're pretty thin on the ground these days.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Tell me about it

I got diddled over a red stripe edition by a guy in the US, probably got done out of it himself and had not checked the contents of the box which was enough off cuts of plastic card from both stock sheet and vac-form kits to keep me going on padding out material for ages. I did get a full refund though

Decided I wanted a 1/700 Greyhound, so of course, ended up with two ship models as well.

1/700 C2 Greyhound set by Trumpeter
1/700 Fujimi IJN Chikuma Heavy Cruiser
1/700 Combrig Models Vyborg Coast Defense Ship

Plans: Greyhound gets turned into a Rotodyne. Chikuma joins my JMSDF Ghost Fleet, Vyborg gets modernized for the Fins.

Cool! I see you had the Chupacabra already and I guess you just needed the other two.  So there's 11 total?  I want to get these, too.

It bugs me why Trumpeter didn't do a compilation box set for USN modern and cold war aircraft sets for their supercarriers, Pitroad do a rebox, and Trumpeter did it for WW2 and the Russian Airgroups, as there are times you want to fill up the air wing on the carrier a bit, but not by buying 12-18 of each individual type !!!!

Have you got the early Pitroad JMSDF equipment set as that's quite handy for updating IJN ships to the 50's early 60's as a change to the 70/80's options

The Finish post war coastal battleship should be interesting

I like you again now.

Heh, well I'd honestly forgotten about a COD or different aircraft until you mentioned the rotodyne, so thanks goes to you.

I agree on the airwing. My original plan for the Hybrid Jean Bart was to go with Martlets and maybe some other early war craft, but it was kinda "Well, you can buy 18 of something, but that's about it" as this was before they had come out with the assortment boxes. I also may have way too many Oceanhawks for a very similar reason.

Yes, I grabbed a couple of the early JMSDF sets to finish off some 1946+ builds. I really like those 3" guns, they look amazing. Considering my plans for the Chikuma, the early set might be a better fit. I was originally going to update the superstructure with a JMSDF nose job from something like the Shirane, and then use the back as a wayward home for my small collection f 1/700 Shapeways Sea darts. Because that by definition, is awesome. Making it an early version might be even more awesome, and save me the hassle of a more comprehensive modern radar fit...Hmmm....

And I agree on the Vyborg, I've been wanting to play with one of those for years. It just kept falling between the proverbial cracks.

Speaking of which I just received

Trumpeter 1/700 Yak-38 Forgers
Trumpeter 1/700 USS Franklin
Xtradecal Black and White stripes

I wanted the stripes for flight deck markings, but didn't reach the minimum order so ordered the Forgers to replace the rather poor versions they used in their Kiev kits, but because they were on offer I was still below the threshold so went with the Franklin as it was the only Essex with the Corsairs so I can use the airgroup on a Revell Independence being done as a French one at Suez to go alongside the Eagle i'm doing.

The Franklin will act as a basis for another Angled Deck Essex conversion, this time the Shangri-La but done if she had been refitted and passed over to the UK to replace Victorious & Hermes so it will be an Essex with Phantoms !!!

I expect that it will be re-renamed back to Väinämöinen? "Vyborg" is the Russian name for the town of Viipuri which Soviets took in WW2 from us, and it could raise some eyebrows in the Soviet Union if the Finns kept that name... Was the ship first ceded to the Soviets and then given back in 1958 as really was considered in OTL, or did us Finns get to keep it all the time in your TL?

That reminds me that I should really finish off the F-4L I have for the USS Hancock

I'm trying to cut back on buying kits, but when you run across one on the wish list on sale for half off... you just can't resist!

Thanks!
