They're reissuing the Hunter this year. Is it any good, accuracy-wise?

Not got one myself but IIRC the cockpit interior is either too shallow or a smaller scale than 1/48th and the wheels aren't the right size, airframe is alright I think. Sure someone who knows more about it will chip in soon!

Went out for new fine paint brushes for the Krivak build and some more Tamiya fine primer for resin and etch at the LMS and came back with a Pitroad JMSDF Hatakaza and an Academy Dokodo both in 1/700.

You rarely see Pitroad outside Japan so to get one off the shelf was a must, and the Dokodo is a new MCP snap fit kit of a South Korean Navy LPH which is actually very nice. The Lynx 300 is very tasty and I think I may put that as a RN version on a Type 45

Also picked up cheap on-line from a 2nd hand kit dealer was a Fujimi Japanese Oiler than I can adapt to be a post war RFA Oiler and a Dragon Essex for the proposed RN Shangri-La build.

Nice finds Thorvic!

I remember the Halcyon days of early Skywave releases at Squadron Shop for like 5 bucks a hull because no one was building JMSDF. Unfortunately, neither was I at the time, and the concept of the stash was not developed enough in my noggin.

I grabbed the Dokodo a while back, and I was pretty impressed with it as well.

Haven't had a chance to have a close look (SWMBO doesn't know I bought it ;D ) but, given the quick glance I had, it looked OK which is generally good enough for me.

Managed to snag a Pitroad 1/700 Soviet Udaloy class Destroyer, these are hard to find as unlike the Sovremenny class that was passed over to Dragon and can be found re-boxed by Zvezda, the Udaloy and Krivak classes stayed with Pitroad who focus only on the Japanese market.

The Udaloy is the standard ASW Destroyer that entered service in the 80s and is still in regular service as one was the escorts for the Carrier Kuznetsov battlegroup for its deployment to Syria.

Would like to track down more of these kits as the Russians developed a Udaloy II Destroyer the Admiral Chernabenko which had a Sovremenny style weapon system and was meant to follow on from the Sovremenny class as the Udaloy's are powered by Gas Turbines where as the Sovremenny have a less than reliable Steam plant (there are only a coupe of the latter left in service with Russia as opposed to 8 of the Udaloy's, which are going to be refitted !)
