won an airfix starter kit of the P-51D mustang, £2.98 I think it were. Had a thing for turbo prop mustangs, and thought, I could stretch this thing, make it a 2 seater, convert to a turbo prop with contra blades, and put some tip tanks and hardpoints on. Been rooting through the spare canopy stash and not a great deal in there that is narrow enough, unless, as well as lengthen it, I make the cockpit part of the plane wider and build in some narrowing plugs for the front and rear fuselage, as I want to put bang seats in also
Chris.
If you're going that far Chris, why not start with an F-82 fuselage, it's already stretched for you
I think the bargain price would go way out of the window if I bought one of those Robert, least with the one I have, I already have all the bits I need in the grave yard.

On my return from  N'orn Ireland today I found the Big H had sent my day-glo decals and my 'Sea Baker' kit.

The latter makes me laugh just reading it, I think the AZ guys lost something in the translation.........

Probably not Robert, I just wanted the plastic actually and the 'Sea Baker' was the only version Big H had at the time I ordered it.

Are you interested in that bit of the sheet then?

Some Yahu instrument panels, if these work out I can see me getting a lot more.

I've got a few of these, find them very good and easy to use

At Southern Expo yesterday my spending could be broken down into 3 sections I suppose.

The planned buys :-

Airfix 1/72 Beaufighter, Firedog boxing.

AZ 1/72 Me 109G-0/R6. the V tail version. I was going to use an after market transfer option on this but the box offers what I wanted to do anyway

Special Hobby 1/72 Folland Gnat F.1 the Finnish/Yugoslav boxing. I've had an idea in my head for a couple of years and finally there is a kit which is absolutely tailor made for it. The moulded detail looks superb and I can see me getting another if only to use the lovely rockets included for the Finnish option.

Then the "price to good to turn down" buys :

Airfix 1/72 Grumman Martlet Mk IV. Probably to be real world

AZ 1/72 Me 1106 B-1.

Then the "out of left field" buys :

Armourfast 1/72 STUG 33B. 2 kits in the box for £7.50. Very simple models intended for wargamming but quite well detailed. I've been looking at their stand at Southern for at least 3 years and finally succumbed  ;D

Masterbox 1/35 British Infantry Battle of the Somme 1916. A group of 5 figures getting orders after the assault by the look of it. These are intended as a tribute build to both my Grandfather's who fought on the Somme.

Oh and some tools, paints, glue etc

The Wooksta!

Spent a small fortune yesterday...

Squadron Hannebau II - the guns are coming off, ESPECIALLY those underneath as those so-called gun turrets are actually the field propulsion units.
Eduard Brassin Beaufighter exhausts - for the Airfix kit, so those will go on the Hasegawa kit.
Avis/Amodel Grogorvich IP2? - looks a bit like a longer Polikarpov "Rata" - Spanish Nationalist after the civil war
ICM  can't remember teh name, but it's another Soviet between the wars fighter and will end up in similar colours.

Two bargains curtsey of Bungle;
1/72 Monogram Rockwell B-1B Lancer
1/72 AMT X/Y B-35 Flying Wing

The Flying Wing as discussed will become an airliner whereas the Lancer as a trainer aircraft with a second cockpit raised behind the first.

My number 2 son (Rheged minimus) rates  Armourfast highly.  He'd be interested to read your thoughts when they are finally assembled
