Good luck rigging the Endeavour Zac.

I remember building the Endeavour when it first came out, or thereabouts anyway. Did it have that "vinyl" rigging that Airfix used to include in some of their sailing ship models ? Can't remember.

It certainly does!

All in one piece, with a cutting template in the instructions. I'm also getting into rigging WW1 models so we'll see...

It's about 1/120 I think but essentially box scale. Here's Cook himself with a scalpel for scale:

Later boxings came with a vacform sheet of unfurled sails. This one only has them all furled, which suits me fine.

A bit of an aside. Cook discovered Hawaii and claimed it fo Britain.  It was sold (or exchanged) to the USA. The states flag is the only state to have a Union Jack in it.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I sold a bunch of wargaming minis to finance a couple of models I've been after for a while and used the rest to pay bills and buy groceries (but you guys don't need to see that!):

Scalemates says the Endeavour boxart is the original 1962 issue. And I got it for less than AU$50. Wow.

I have some photos, black and white, that I took on the replica in 1999 at the Wooden Boat Show in Pt. Townsend, Washington. I can send you scans if you'd like.

Also the only state to have a royal palace.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That's the stuff. Back when it first came out that rigging was almost impossible to glue with what was generally available. You youngsters don't know how lucky you are with all these "super" glues  ;D

Hawaii ?

One of my favourite places on the planet. First went in 1982 and have been back many times since. Met my great US friends there and honestly had some of the best times of my life there. However was it ever "owned" by the UK ?

The answer to that is "it's complicated"  ;D. It was a protectorship for a short while and then in the mid 1800's claimed as a British colony for a few months but never really part of the Empire. Was it therefore sold to the US ? Again no. The ruling monarchy was overthrown in a coup organised by US sugar magnates in the 1890's. The Island's were then annexed by the US.

For such a small place it is one of the most complicated time lines I know of  :o Gets even more complicated when your at a Luau with the locals and some of the traditional stories get told  ;)
