Gondor

I received an ebay purchase today

1 x 1/72 Sword Lightning T.Mk.5 which will end up getting converted into a naval version

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

I hummed and hawed over it, but decided to grab a HobbyCraft 1/72 Skyraider.  Was trying to decide if I wanted to hold out for the Hasegawa offering, but finally couldn't argue with the price difference.

I also ended up picking up a MiG-21 (Academy) and a B-1 bomber (Lindbergh) in 1/144.  I usually only go for 1/72 kits, but have seemed to pick up a few 1/144 lately.  I'm not sure why... cheap? Quick to build? I dunno...
Thanks!

Went to my annual model club's auction today. Unfortuneately, I didn't bid on much as I was very limited on funds. :(  But I did come away with an old 1/48 scale Testor U-2C spyplane that I wanted for my stealth aircraft collection. Though I'll probably whif it instead into an armed U-2 with air-to-air or air-to-surface missiles. If I'm not too mistaken, I think Lockheed did propose such a version to the Air Force back in the 60's or 70's, didn't they? Didn't somebody also on the forums here build an armed U-2? I can't seem to find it.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Ah, ok, now I remember. ;)  Maybe I'll do a Navy version instead with underwing Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

Back from Model Expo.

<big breath>
Matchbox Fokker D.XXI with a second Russian (manufacturer unclear) Fokker D.XXI in the box (bought mainly because I had never seen one by Matchbox)
Hasegawa Morane Saulnier MS.406 (Finnish)
Hasegawa Grumman F11F-1 Tiger
Hasegawa MiG 21 (Early - Egyptian or Ugandan)
Academy Cessna A-37B (RoK Black Eagles display team)
Hasegawa North American F-86F Sabre (JASDF)
Hasegawa Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk. 1a (missing the spinner so it will HAVE to be whiffed)
Hasegawa Kawanishi Type94-1
Hasegawa Grumman F6F-3/5 Hellcat
Airfix DHC Chipmunk T.10
Pioneer 2 Yakovlev Yak 15
Italeri Kamov Ka-50 Hokum
Hasegawa Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat (bagged)
Monogram Bell "Huey Chopper" Snaptite (bagged)
Airfix Sikorsky SH-3D Sea King (bagged)
Italeri Republic RF-84F Thunderjet (bagged - Italian, Belgian)
Hasegawa Aircraft weapons set 2 (guided bombs and gun pods)
MiG 21 decal set by HDL giving Soviet, Ukrainian, Polish, Yugoslav, Croatian and East German markings.
All 1/72 obviously and all the boxed Hasegawa kits are "box art & font" boxing except the Morane Saulnier.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Some nice buys there Fred  The Ms 406 and F11F-1 in particular are enjoyable quick builds.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

From Fenwick's in Newcastle Airfix 1/72 Typhoon (Hawker) starter set. Just felt like it after I saw it whilst buying a teddy bear for the latest addition to the "Clan".

That's a LONG way from the ocean!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Just a bit. It's last flight was back in May 2005 into the museum. Half the runway at Gatow has since given way to housing.

After Chris's visit to Gatow  Museum and seeing the photo's I had a feeling he would be doing some inspired builds so offered up the Atlantique as I knew I had a spare one with the special schemes

The Postie arrived just as Chris was parking up  ;D, and he had an Airfix Sea King AEW. Its not a great kit but the decals are nice and some of the features will be used on the new HAR3 gift set kit to do the RN HAS5.

Man, I'm going to get in trouble if I can't get away from eBay soon. Done dipped off into my business bank account last week and started spending my overhead money on model kits.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Anyway, I managed to get a good deal at least, right at $35, shipping and all, and got both these factory sealed bad boys. Couldn't help myself... man collecting these kits is like an addiction.  These kits are large!!  Big ol' boxes. Anyway, they showed up safe and sound. There is a 1/72 Boeing 707 listed from the same feller but it's already up around $60 so I DEFINITELY need to leave that one alone..

Time to go hustle up some lawns to mow.  ;D

EDIT:  The 1/72 Heller Boeing 707 went for right at $70!!   Man, what a glorious kit!!  I hope they build it it instead of letting it sit.
