Not decided if the Fury will be anything other that r/l, the Airacomet could well end up as Nationalist Chinese

Gondor

Interesting thought  Post War equivalent of The Flying Tigers perhaps ?

Which war though?

The fight by the Communists with the Nationalist Chinese lasted until after WWII with major hostilities ending in 1950 so plenty of scope for slightly older aircraft to be passed onto a failing ally is entirely plausible.

Gondor

Just after WWII, so during the Chinese Civil War

The whole idea could be extended with war surplus stock being passed on

Now I have two... took me ages to hunt one down on ebay, and now I found another one for less than EUR 3,- at the local store!

That's (modelers') life, I guess...  ;D

I need some Firestreaks for a future project so it made sense to get a plane with them.

From my nearest HobbyCraft (22 miles away...) one pot of Tamiya Dark Sea Grey paint, and a length of 1/2" dowel (for making the side flotation tubes on the Monterey's beaching trolley)

It's not that nice a kit, being ones of their early ones - it's rough and a pig to put together.

Freightdog sell Red Tops.  A local interweb supplier has resin Firestreaks but i've been meaning to get one of the new Airfix Lightnings as one of the old ones was the first model my father built for me in about 1970.

<edit> Hah! Martin beat me to it.  I specifically wanted Firestreaks as they are slightly earlier than Red Tops and make my planned build slightly more plausible (but not much).

A 'packet of goodies' from OGL in the post today.

Four Vulture engines, two of which will grace the wings of the Blackburn B20 bequeathed to me by The Venerable Mike McEvoy. (hmmm, maybe all four?) some big Hunter drop tanks for my long building G-VTOL project, some depth charges (I think....) and a very strange shaped resin 'thing' of which I haven't a CLUE!

I got one after I saw an La-9 at an airshow and, aged 16, managed to do alright (even if the background doesn't do me any favours):

Very fond memories of that kit.

And that's a very good reason to go back and build another
