1/700 S-Model PLA Type 52CDestroyer Haikou arrived today, quite a surprise as I wasn't expecting any kits in the post - I actually ordered this kit on the 24th of Feb off eBay from China and thought it had just been lost in the post  :-\

Also got a pot of Gunze Sangyo H333 and the Hataka Modern Luftwaffe Paint Set No.1.

Martlet's a nice kit, but I've found it easier to treat the undercarriage and cockpit as two separate units rather than as one on the 3 I've built so far. Did the first one as per the instruction sheet and it was a bit of a p.i.a. Second two I built separately.

You're a far better modeler than me though Chris, so you could well be o.k. I've not seen any magazine reviews mention similar problems to the one I had although they've all said that this part of the build takes a lot of care.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I won a box of what I thought were 1/72 spare parts on eBay, turns out to be the bargain of the year.
A part built 1/48 F/A-18E Super Hornet with some of the missiles missing.
1/72 Airfix Lockheed S-3A Viking ASW without the instructions, seems all there just need to double check.
1/72 Italeri Boeing X-32, part built, parts missing.
1/72 Dassault Rafale B part built, parts missing with instructions.
All for £8 with free postage.
Going to use the parts supplied with the 1/48 Hornet and see what aftermarket parts are available.

Won a SMER 1:72 Il-2M auction on ebay. Kitbashing fodder, though...  <_<

Additions I appear to have missed posting:

1 x Revell 1/144 Lockheed F-19 Stealth Fighter (RV 04051) - to be built as a 1/48 or 1/35 drone
1 x Airfix 1/72 Hawker Typhoon IB (AX02041) - optional replacement engine for modified Lancaster/Manchester variant (depends on which 2nd kit arrives in stock for purchase 1st)
1 x Revell 1/72 Avro Lancaster B.I/III (RV04300) - to be bashed into 2-engine Lancaster/Manchester variant

Due tomorrow - now in the Stash:

1 x Academy 1/72 Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB (AC 12462) - optional replacement engine for modified Lancaster/Manchester variant (depends on which 2nd kit arrives in stock for purchase 1st)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 US Army Special Forces Gunner for HMMWV and GMV Vehicles Twin M2 Mount (LRM35011)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 US MARSOC Marine Special Operations Batalion/Navy Seals GMV-M Turret Gunner #2 (LRM35013)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 Twin Mount M2E2 (M2A1) Browning .50 Calibre Machine Gun w/Flash Hider for HMMWV & GMV (LRE35290)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 USMC Tanker for MCTAGS and LAV-25 Turrets with CVC Helmet (LRM35007)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 US Army Modern Soldier Vol.1 (LRM35001)** - to be modified for current M-7771 Custodian build
1 x Live Resin 1/35 M240G on Platt Swing Mount w/US Marine Corps Medium MG w/Trijicon TA648MGO for LAV-25 (LRE35251)
1 x Live Resin 1/35 US MARSOC Marine Special Operations Batalion/Navy Seals GMV-M Turret Gunner #1 (LRM35012)
1 x Revell 1/144 Grumman F-14A Tomcat (RV 04021) - parts donor for current M-7771 Custodian build

All the Live Resin stuff is for future RAM builds, except [**] which is as described

Looking at the Academy Typhoon Mk.IB, it is significantly more detailed than the (older) Airfix offering, so I may build it as an Australian Army (2nd AIF?) ground support fighter & wait for another Airfix kit to use on the Lanc/Manc build.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

Two 1/25 cars arrived today.  Not exactly Holy Grails, more nice to haves.
1). Revell 1966 Chevelle Station Wagon.  The last (Revell Muscle) release, which only has nasty modern large diameter custom wheels.   Still, nothing a rummage in the wheels box won't cure.
2). AMT 1969 Mercury Cougar CJ 428.  I've built the '69 Cougar Eliminator and this will go nicely next to it on the shelf.

Blergh. I'm so tired of that Hot Wheels look.  :banghead:
Yeah, yeah designer/customizer guys of a certain age, we get it you lurved, lurved, lurved yer Hot Wheels
when you were a kid, please get over it, you lot have been using the over-sized rim/minimal rubber look for
25+ years, and it's infected the younger cohort of designers/customizers, so it keeps getting recycled,
ad infinitum - ad nauseum.
Aint' it time for something else? Some kind of happy middle ground?

Hot Wheels.  I hadn't thought they may be to blame...
At least when Revell brought out their lowrider and donks ranges they left the stock parts in them (including the wheels).
On something that age you can't beat red or white stripe rubber on slightly wider than stock steelies with trim rings and dog dishes combined with a slight lowering on all four corners.

Visited the closing down hobby shop in the city.
30% off all kits meant I grabbed stuff I wanted but wasn't willing to pay full price.
1/25 Mobius 1971 Ford Ranger pick up.  Slightly disappointed it doesn't include the family, old english sheepdog and dog kennel shown on the box art but detail wise it looks great in the box.
1/72 Hasegawa A-1H/J Skyraider (pleased to see it contains a toilet but even with 30% off it was still prolly too much - limited edition my a***).  Looks much much better than the Airfix/Heller kit.  I'm thinking African.
1/72 Special Hobby Junkers Ju-87A.  One of Special Hobby's better kits.  No ideas yet but i'm chuffed to have one at last - love those trousers.
1/72 AZ Messerschmitt Bf 109G-0.  The Vee tailed Gustav.  The vee tail will be fitted to a long winged H and I will still have a complete model left to build

Managed to avoid the temptation of 30% off Wingnut Wings.  Just.

I've got 3 of the Ju-87A's in the stash. One of the very early boxings and 2 of the latter boxings. Lots of ideas but still not got around to them  :banghead: Although the Argentine one for the Great South American War is a distinct possibility latter this year.

The V tailed 109 is a nice kit. Which boxing did you get ? I've the Aces boxing and the R6 one. One kit will be Desert camo as boxing and the other is due to be Italian. These will get done before Telford  ;)
