The trimming's not too bad, it's the sanding down of the edges so they meet properly that's the real PITA!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Managed to get a resin 1/700 Pitroad/Waveline Type 21 Frigate HMS Amazon. This is the too scale Type21, unlike the Dragon kit where they copied the Airfix kit and forgot to scale it down from 1/600 to 1/700.

Also got a pair of Fujimi 1/72nd HH-46 Sea Knights  ;)

From the SAPMA Expo yesterday & today;

1 x 1/48 Special Hobby Fairey Firefly F/FR Mk.1
1 x 1/48 Academy AH-64A "Grey Camo 2003" (from Uncle Les)
1 x 1/48 Revell A-10 Thunderbolt (again, from Uncle Les)
1 x 1/35 Italaeri (yep, the kit's that old) BM-13 "Katyusha" Russian multi-rocket launcher (will be built OoB in memory of my cat of the same name)
1 x 1/35 DML BTR-80 (8-wheel Soviet/Russian APC)

1 x 1/35 Kinetic RG-31 Mine Protected Vehicle
1 x 1/35 Trumpeter Mi-24V Hind-E

1 x 1/35 Tamiya Triceratops Diorama Set
1 x 1/35 Tamiya Velociraptors 6-pack

Add to that some basic supplies, some new tools & an Iwata Neo airbrush (to replace the one I broke ).

Very good haul (in my opinion) & I stayed within budget! :o

Some interesting purchases Mr Wombat  it will be interesting to see what you have planned for the dinosaurs in particular.

I love the idea of a tribute build to your old cat, but it was called Katyusha ??  ;D Mind you I had a ginger one called Samson for some reason !

Always good to get what you want and stay within the budget

I did see some stuff by Pavla on there but folks wanted about $100 for 'em.

Your'e joking ? I've just checked the stash and the one I have is the Pavla kit. The two I thought were P-43's by SH turn out to be P-35's

The dinosaurs I'm going to (mostly) play pretty straight in a Jurassic diorama. The 6-pack of velociraptor's, however, has only 3 different poses, so I'll use 3 in the Jurassic dio & "play" with ideas for the other 3. The triceratops dio set includes 2 velociraptors, too, which are, interestingly, in different poses to those in the 6-pack - so, that gives me a pack of 5 velociraptors & a triceratops for the dio, plus some fish, a frog or two & one or two salamander-y type amphibians.

Yes, her name was Katyusha, as when she was a kitten, she'd tear around the house like a rocket.

Budget was pretty healthy ($500 saved over quite a few months) but I only spent $250-$260 on the kits (The Hind was only $80! The next most expensive was the Firefly at $47. The rest were $30 or less, the dinosaurs were $30 combined.). The rest being spent on the tools, etc., including food & drinks.

Love it  ;D ;D ;D

I think the major part of my budget at SMW this year will be tools, paints and such. Not that many kits I actually want. Mind you there are usually suprises in store  ;)

One of my grail kits!  1/72 BEAST MODE White Swan!

I got it cheaper than going rate by about $30, give or take, but it was still a bit pricey. Birthday coming up pretty soon so I can sort of Justify it.    ;D

That's going to take up a LOT of shelf space!  :o

YEAH, it's like......  Pizza Box type of area take-uppage. I'll likely have to string it up and hang it from the ceiling or something.

If I build it with all the flaps and stuff closed up I can pose the wings folded tucked and it MIGHT fit on a shelf somewhere.. but uhhh.... I like it with the wings out so....  EH..  I'll figure it out eventually. It's liable to sit un-built in the box for a year or two anyway.  ;D

Just won on ebay:

CMK Spitfire Tr 9

Bit pricier than the AZ one, but a far nicer kit and you get a spare vacform canopy for both cockpits.  Handy, because I need a vacform male mould for the back one to go with all the other two seat conversions I have tucked away.
