there are over 500 stencils between the two wings?!  Ol' boy said 252 per wing.... Holy smokes.     I'm not sure how many will make it on there but I'll at least try.

From my personal point of view life's to short. I'd just use the larger more "in your face" ones and bin the rest. Use the "what could you actually see from 72 foot away or in this case 144 ? I must admit that modern aircraft do seem to be covered in them, thus it is probably accurate to use them but with 90% of my builds being WWII or just before/after I can always say "oh it's had a repaint"  if anyone asks.

A box from Old Wombat's stash reductoporium arrived today.

Airfix Fairey Battle (nostalgia - my dad built me one back when the moulds were new).
Airfix Grumman Gosling/Widgeon.
Ace Su-25 single seater (will go well with the Cooperativa two seater in the stash although this is a much better looking kit - can see these as PDRV Republican Guard).
ICM Ural Command Truck (mobile control tower for Dadswell Bridge Field).
Hasegawa US Pilots & Crew (my third Chevy Crew Van and some other figures and a Fujimi Carrier Fire Engine).
All 1/72 obviously.

Well you already have made the first step, as whilst a Vacform can be daunting, it helps if the subject matter is something you really want, so are more motivated to work through the more involved build process to get the thing done.

Basically its a case of mark out, cut out, sand down to the join line and then the part is a basic shape. Add structure and bracing where required for strength and support especially where other parts are joined to it and do any cut outs, drill holes etc to add extra details.

That's how I've done it in the past. I've always set out to put them all on but when I get past a certain point I lose interest in blowing hours on something only dust bunnies will see. This has always been in 1/72 and they're tiny enough...  these near microscopic 1/144s?!?!?!?... well.... we'll see.

Tiny? A 1/72 scale B-52 is pretty huge, Steel Penguin's 1/48 one will darken the Sun!

Any way we could convince you to start on this immediately?    Watching you tackle this would be a popcorn worthy event and one for the records books around here, I imagine!
