The Wooksta!

Better to get a new tool Airfix F2a or F6 than cobble together the abysmal Matchbox or antediluvian Airfix F3.  The investment will repay itself with a far superior result.

Doesn't someone do a resin small size belly tank to convert the new Airfix F2A to an F3?

It may have been Odds and Ordnance before they sold their stuff though.

It was AlleyCat who did the conversion

Although Sword do the F-3 as a kit

The thing is, I have two Mbox single-seaters (plus possibly salvageable remains of further two) and one two-seater, one Early Triassic Airfix, and one Trumpeter in the stash, and all together I paid less for them than I would have to pay for a single new tool Airfix. Even if they eventually get built they're not going to be show-quality models anyway, so unless I run into some REALLY cheap new-tool Airfix and would suddenly have an inspiration what to build of it beyond what's in The Plan*, this is going to be it.

*) non-whiffed Tiger Squadron F.6, non-whiffed F.2A, GR.3B Lightning Strike, FRS.7 Sea Lightning in Aeronavale markings (Su-17 wings instead of the "real" VG wings with bits and bobs from a MiG-23 thrown in the mix too), F.8 (single-engine variant, using Su-17 fuselage and the leftover Lightning wings), F.6A (modernized version in late-80's laodout)

And its a pig to instal. Ive done it twice now and each time ive had to butcher the resin to get it to fit.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

That's a good find, it's a cracking conversion.

I've had one 'in build' for over 20 yrs now, and it's STILL nowhere near done.  :banghead:

Recently arrived from Wombats Stash Rationalisation.

1/72 Italeri Piasecki H-21C Shawnee (Flying Banana).
I thought this might WHIF to a simple RAAF lifter.

1/48 Tamiya Douglas F4D-1 Skyray.
Now this may be for my first ever WHIF I think. Always loved the shape of the Skyray so I have a thought of re-scaling it to a 1/72 two-seat RAAF strike aircraft. Maybe like an early idea similar to the later F-16XL.
