Hmmmn, where do I start?

The easy bit.  The none Spitfire stuff.
2 Magna Bristol 148
1 Magna Firebrand TF.V
1 Magna Firefly T1/T2
2 Revellogram NA F82s (these were on my shopping list)
1 Amodel De Havilland Dove/Devon (this was on my shopping list)
2 AZ SR 53 (one of each boxing)
1 AZ MB6 "Night Ferret" (this will be a subject in my next none Plan blog)
1 Valom Bristol Bombay
1 Valom Bristol Buckmaster (this was on my shopping list if I could find one at a nice price)
1 Special Hobby Blackburn Skua
3 Skybirds 86 DH Hornets (one from Howard's stash, another spotted by EKFG)
Freightdog Cannon Hurricane conversion
Freightdog Discbomb conversion

And now for the Spitfires...
1 Airfix PR19 (it was very cheap and even then, I almost left it)
1 Ventura PR19
7 Heller mk XVIes (donor/conversion fodder)
3 Sword mk XIVes, two of which were the FRs
1 AZ Spitfire XIVe highback
1 AZ mk XVI joypack
1 Sword PR.IV Trop
1 Sword mk XVIe highback
1 Sword mk XVIe lowback
1 Eduard mk VIII weekend
1 Eduard mk IXe
1 Eduard mk XVIe lowback
1 Eduard Czech boxing triple combo (Antics were flogging them off for £35.  I got the last one, because I didn't want to be greedy. An absolute steal and cheaper than the pair I got on ebay a week or so back.  Scooterman was given the decal placement profile book)
1 Sword Seafire IIc/L.IIc
Freightdog early mk IXc conversion
Freightdog Aboukir mk IX conversion
Freightdog Spitfire mk XIV/XVIII decals from his reboxing of the AZ kits, 2 of each release.
2 Freightdog Post War Spitfires decal sheets
1 3D Rotol Spitfire conversion
1 Magna Spiteful F.16/Seafang F.32 (courtesy of Narses2)
1 Airfix Swift FR.5

I also got two of Freightdog's next kit release.  The subject hasn't been announced yet and it's Colin's baby to announce so I'm not stealing his thunder.  What I will say is that I'm highly impressed with it and will be doing a review/build thread on it very soon. To those of you who do know what it is and have seen it, I'll ask you to keep schtum until Colin announces it.

When I got back, ebay took great delight in telling me I'd won a Ventura Seafire XV early and an Eduard Aussie VIII combo (a snip at under twenty notes), plus a collection of spare Spitfire bits for a fiver.

The Wooksta states that he was somewhat restrained in his buying at Telford.

This has to be a new definition of restrained that I was previously unaware off.

PS how are we posting pics these days???

Try Flickr or Imgur. Both work well and are free. I've tried Imgur and no complaint so far.

Well, i'm very happy to say that the second deal done on this forum worked out perfectly, as did the first, which was the 1/48 Monogram Blue Thunder helicopter i bought off our colleague, Bungle.
Today i received another 1/48 helicopter, another excellent deal was done with Chrisonord for the Italeri LHX Stingbat, another one of Italeri's creations, which will be a bit modified to meet my design requirements...
Big thank you to Chris for the patience he had waiting for my payment(funds got delayed because of national holiday in Portugal) and for the excellent price for such a hard to find kit.

The final pile, compared to that of last year is roughly half and I came back with 30% of my available spending money, and that was after having to fork out an extra £70 of expenses due to the guest house cocking up the accommodation.  I struggled to spend £40 with Collecktakit on the friday (usually a 3 figure sum) and the kit swap only took £80 from me on the saturday (again, normally a 3 figure sum).  I could have went and bought a lot more but decided against it.

People forget that you've been stock piling Spitfires and certain types for years so have stock examples of every kit plus multiples of the ones that you do like to use. Add to that the variety of good and Ok kits of the type that have come out in recent years that you stock up with during the year which means less need to cross kit as much as was once needed and a more refined search and buy when you do hit SMW. Now if Colin had his full quota of Supermarine Type 327s then you might have been nearer to usual spending levels

NARSES2

Right, didn't get back until late yesterday afternoon and then after the "fun" of last year I booked the hotel for next year for me and Aircav

Quite moderate purchase load really as it has to be carted back on the train, still I got almost all I wanted.

1/72 kits -

AZ M.B.6 the N.F. Mk 2 Night Fighter boxing
AZ Curtis Hawk H-75C 1. Czech pilots in the French AF boxing. If it builds as well as it looks then I can see me buying a couple more of their boxing's.
IBG PZL 23 Karas. The early model boxing. I was impressed with their PZL 42 and one of the Polish traders was doing a very good price.

1/48

Airfix Walrus. This was an impulse buy that I spent most of the weekend humming and ahhing over  MR Models were doing a better price then anyone else so they got my business. Just ordered the Xtradecal sheet to go with it. Real world BPF. The kit is stunning

Freightdog fabric wing Hurricane 20mm cannon sets. 2x. One of which will go on a Hurricane which will also have 4 x 0.303" m.g.'s. Not sure about the other, but maybe on one of my Magna resins ?

A nice Hataka French AF 1940 acrylic paint set.

Various paint brushes from ABC. I've seen their adverts but it was good to see them there (first timers) and chat to the guy. Will be getting my brushes from them in future.

Other tools and bits and pieces I wanted/needed.

A nice daylight desk light plus spare daylight bulb from the lady on the lighting stand. It was ex. display so the package was £25 (half price) plus she is going to bring it to the London show for me

Only things on my list that failed to return with me to South London were and RS Models M.S. 410 which has been ordered along with the transfers and some sanding sheets. Just looked up the 3M sheets on EBay and they are a little pricey ? May revert to good old emery paper
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ah yes, the lighting stand. It's so weird being in those halls all weekend, with no windows at all and your usual obviously-artificial lighting, and then to approach the lighting stand. It's like they have their private skylight.

PR19_Kit

Just pray that nothing goes wrong with anything you buy from the lighting people.

A few years ago I was swayed by their blurb about life of their bulbs and bought a couple. The bulb life statement said '........up to xxxxxx hours.....' or some such, and they both blew within two months! They wouldn't even talk to me on the phone about it.

Never again!  :banghead:

The LED daylight bulbs, I used one in the main light fitting of my model room and the other in the light over the work bench. They were great while they lasted but at the price I'd have expected at least a year's worth of use. After all it's not as if I'm working on there all day every day.

The guy just kept on repeating 'UP to xxxxxx hours' in the umpteen emails.

Not very good trading practice I'd say.

Hmm! I'll have to keep that in mind now. I've been going around the house changing the fixtures to LED for the last couple of years now. I haven't had a problem yet but I did buy these "'cheap"" LED bulbs from Costco that are supposed to be the replacement for the halogen pot light bulbs. I'll have to see how well they last.

I can't remember the name of the manufacturer I'm afraid Robert, but I think it began with 'L'.
