I decided to do no more work on the interior and joined the two fus halves together and sanded the seams....it seems the canopy doesn't fit too well so I've lined the fus edges with plastic card and sanded them smooth to enable the canopy to enjoy a closer fit...

one of the most distinctive features of the Halibag cockpit is the armored plate behind the pilot which has three sort of window-like openings...they are not holes, but are actually filled with some kind of glass...not sure of the actual function, perhaps to enable the flight engineer behind to check if the pilot is okay....I don't think the panels are really necessary and so eliminating them would perhaps have speeded up production of the plane, but there you are, they exist...the crappy model I'm building doesn't include them so I had to cut the panels out of a thin sheet of plastic card with a sharp knife being careful to not slash my fingers and then file the holes into shape...next step is to paint it interior green, trim it into shape and position the card behind the pilot's seat so that it doesn't impede the positioning of the canopy...I won't fill in the panels, but leave them open as it won't really be noticed once the plate is in situ

here're some more snaps....I ploughed my way through my box of spare parts looking for something like plastic rod (antenna/gun barrel and such like) to use as support framing, but nothing turned up...so I fell back on my usual substitute, which is lead from a propelling pencil...not really happy to use this stuff as it breaks easily and you have to use superglue to attach it, but any port in a storm..must invest in some plastic rod next time....but here it is...the two lengths of lead are perhaps not perfectly parallel, but that won't be too evident under the distortingly thick canopy

more snaps of the canopy support framework..getting there....and a shot of the tail gunner possie...I decided to blank off the fus just behind his seat as without it there would have been too much of a gap between the seat and the fus enabling too much to be seen in the fus...not sure if this is accurate, but I like it...and finally for some light relief here is what I had for breaky today, one crumpet and a muffin...I like my crumpets with some vegemite on top, but butter and a slice of cheese is good too...as for the muffin, jam or cheese is the go

No. Real butter and Seville Marmalade on Crumpets.
As for muffins.  I give the bready ones a miss preferring the cakey ones.  Especially white chocolate and raspberry.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Don't get butter on your build.  It plays hell with the paint job.

getting closer to painting time and as I don't have a dark green and dark earth at the mo, I thought I'd use one of these greens or even a mixture of them...advice please as to which one might be the closest to dark green...and do you know of a way to tweak the sand brown into a dark earth?

as you can see there is a Grand Canyon-like gap between the fus and the canopy that has to be filled somehow...here are my options
1. attach canopy to the fus and try to fill the gap with putty..then sand
2. attach a strip of plastic sheet to the canopy with glue, whittle the strip into shape, then attach the amended canopy to the fus...then sand
3. attach a strip of plastic sheet to the fus's canopy coaming, whittle the strip into shape, then attach the canopy to the fus...then sand
