.....also want to reserve reporting name "Feck"......... Now, I hope I've got the strenght to complete them all in due time...

I have a couple I'd like to reserve.

Bo-64 "Harbinger"  (Attack helicopter bringing death and destruction wherever she goes)
Bb-22   "Harlot"      (versatile transport craft that a lot of guys can fit inside)  Yes, I know transports should have a C designation but this is going to be a re-made V-22 Osprey. The Soviets actually made a similar prototype of their own in the 60s  (Kamov_Ka-22) and the reporting name was "Hoop" so I'm sticking with the "H" stuff.

In my story .... the Soviet Union is alive and well in 2017 and they are the bestest of friends with the United States and pretty much everyone else on the planet. Lend Lease is going strong and we're all one big happy family on Earth...   sharing technology and information and working together to achieve common goals.

I would like to express an interest in the reporting name of "Fireguard"

Make your own assumptions if you will  ;D

Well it won't be made of chocolate, that's for sure....  ;)

OK I would like to reserve.......... FIREDRAKE.

Jim

I used that for my, as yet unbuilt, mix of a 'Mandrake' and a 'Firebar' some years ago, but by the time I finish it we'll all have forgotten this GB anyway.  :banghead:

Gosh, now there's an idea.

No sign of a Firebar tho'.

Mine's either a Broplan vacform or an A Model kit. I've no idea where the project has got to in this madhouse where I live, but I'll see if I can find it.

So the trainer version would be the MANBAR?  Or is that something alltogether different?

IIRC, "Flipper" was used for the RW Ye-150 prototype...
Can we expect an in-service aircraft?  ;)

I can neither confirm nor deny the information you have requested...

Not sure if it counted as a rule as such, but the ASCC had a tendency to avoid dynamic, scary or impressive names, presumably to avoid 'bigging up' the Soviet weapons. There were exceptions though (Foxhound, Fencer) and some names became 'sexy' by association with the Soviet hardware (Foxbat).

On a similar note, a myth seems to have grown up in the former Warsaw Pact the code names were meant to be derogatory.  The story about the MiG-15 Fagot seems to fan this, but for the most part they're random (-ish).
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

.....and another one came up..I'd like to reserve "Farmhand"......now, let's get to work.

Adding "Fixer" to my list.   For Md-4 "Fixer."

EDIT: Sounds too close to "Fencer."  I'll try again later.   ;D

EDIT:   OK, let's roll with "Farscape."

Yup. AFAIK, the code names were rather chosen because they'd look for simple words that are easily to distinguish when spoken or heard (esp. over the radio), and of things that normally do not pop up in everyday aerial conversation, so that the code names were easy to identify, esp. in stressful situations.

I second that Dizzyfugu..

...as we speak of codes: I'd like to place an option on "Flout" for a piston-engine fighter.

Not confirmed, since there are many potential ideas in my head and on the list, but I'll finish the Lend Lease Corsair and my "Fastback" project (already started dusting off donor kits and parts) first.
