Hmmm, I wonder how that first scheme is meant to work.

The darker shaded area is exactly the same shape as the airframe, so anyone looking down on it from above would know precisely what it was.  :-\

Not quite the same.

Close counts.........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's a prototype. It's just meant to look good.  ;)

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

zenrat

I started painting today.
Bomb bays, UC bays, intakes, exhaust etc.
Still not decided on the scheme.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

What about some sort of Anniversary or Commemorative scheme?

WW2 disruptive Brown/Green, or Black/Green over Blue - or a nice 2-Greys.

Just a random, left-field thought. After all, if it's good enough for an F-16 or a Typhoon...  ;)

zenrat

I'm thinking of the greys/white scheme but done in blues with a bit of wrap round from the underside which I painted today in what was supposed to be Light Sea Grey but looks more like Duck Egg Blue to me.

excellent indeed

might even be coloured up, while keeping the pattern lines
(like blue, red, yellow? for example?)
(would suit the NATO nickname?)

Mind you, this ones pretty good.

zenrat

Well i've got one coat of each colour on.
Underside is Light Sea Grey and the camo colours are Light Sea Grey mixed with White, with Azure or with Mediterranean Blue.
This has resulted in a (for me) unusually subtle scheme.

Paint is almost done.  Just needs one more coat on the underside.

I started preparing the fiddley bits and it appears that when they designed it Testors lifted the undercarriage straight from the MiG 23/27.
Bomb-bays will be posed open as I want to use the odd looking "stealth" nukes that are supplied with the kit

Beauty! That longer nose really balances things.

Looking good, Fred - I like the false edges to the paintjob; if you can't hide, confuse the shape.

zenrat

If i'd followed Eric's suggested colours it would be very psychedelic.  I'm tucking that idea away for later...

Decals on today.  Well, some of them. There are a lot of very small grey stencils in cyrillic script.  had done about 20% when I had to stop.
