Inspired by Sharpe's Sea Fury and Frog/Novo

If this is Upper Silesia, one can only wonder what Lower Silesia is like.

I've been raiding the stash and done some naval what ifs. Mainly Seahawks, with Sea Harrier nose and Sea Venoms with F4B nose (donated from Airfix).

I've also started on swept wing variants of the Seahawk. Inspired by the P1052/P1081 - I think the numbers are correct.

I think some fine sanding is required.....

JayBee

I am most deffinitelt intrigued to see what comes out of this, especially given the inspiration.

That nose REALLY suits the Sea Venom, much better than the original Mosquito derived original.

And like JayBee I'm looking forward to the P1040/1052/1081 derivatives to come.

I've heard of Spitfire Ale, I even have a bottle of it, but Sea Fury beer is new one on me. I look forward to future aviation related tipple.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

The Wooksta!

I'd go with an offset single seat canopy on the Venom and the later EDSG over white with low demarcation.  I'm actually tempted to nick that idea as I located a radar nose for something - I know not what - the other day that looks like it may fit the bill AND I have a boxed Frog Sea Venom sans nosecone.  Conversely, grafting a standard Vampire front end onto a Sea Venom for a RN single seater is another idea I've been tempted with.

I do dislike the radar nose onto the Sea Hawk though, the German expedient of a plug in pod on a wing pylon was a much more sensible move.  The shortcut P.1052 is good though.  Plus points there, although the real thing had the intakes built up further forward to accommodate the wing sweep.  May be worth trying to use Novo Hunter F1 wings instead for that characteristic Hawker shape.

P.1081 is an all through jetpipe design.

That Frog/Novo Sea Fury is a horrible kit.  Tried building it a few times over the last few years and each time ended up chucking the bits back in the box in disgust.  The PM copy, despite it's many faults, is a far superior kit.

Did anyone else notice the old school Airfix tube glue? ;D

That Sea Venom looks good - just enough sweep to be visually different, and the nose works well, too.

I might have extended the booms a bit, but it's your model and it's a personal thing anyway. <_<

Darnit, I don't need any more project ideas! :banghead:

Now there are some ideas on top of ideas!

I like the  idea of extending the Venom booms and the single seat canopy  - see what I can do with that after a visit to the LMS for plastic card.

The "P1040/1052/1081 " derivative is just my idea of a derivative. I'm trimming back the fuselage and removing the wing root outlets but I have to be careful - my modelling skills are left behind by ideas!

Somewhere I have a P80 in night camouflage with a Hellcat wing mounted radar pod. I have another couple of those kicking about and I'm thinking of what they can be used on.

I think I'll split the thread into stuff based on Sea Hawks and stuff based on Sea Venoms.

NARSES2

Now that's a nice collection, looking forward to seeing the progress

I'd never heard of that Sharp's beer before either until the other week when I saw it in the local. Only seen their Doombar up to now, which I always think should be a Scottish beer for some reason ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Another inspiration, for many years is:

and the drawing of the P1081, which I'm not copying exactly......

but Wooksta's suggestion of using a Hunter fuselage........hmm, I have some Novo ones kicking about.

Some progress on one of the Sea Venoms......showing my modelling limitations. I think it needs a bit of sanding and repair the paint work

Is that a Meteor NF14 canopy you used?

Yes. The spare cockpits and engines have come in handy. I'm on with another project using the spare engines..........but I want to make some real progress before I share it.
