Southern Expo

...On the way home I thought I'd pop in an old haunt in Southwark opposite St Thomas's. Bad mistake, I forgot how touristy the area is now ever since Borough Market went all trendy and the Shard opened up...

I haven't been there for at least 14 years.  I used to walk from London Bridge Station to Waterloo along the river every morning.  The area started changing when the Globe, the Tate Modern  and the wobbly bridge opened.

I go back to the 50's, when going to work with your dad was considered a treat  and have fond memories of some of the market and wharf side pubs from the 60's/70's, The Anchor on the river especially.

On the whole they've done a good job tarting it up and it's still an area I like. I was just knackered.
