So back in the day the UK was trying to sell VC-10's the the US. So what if we had?

The kit will be the Roden VC10 Type 1154 with Draw Decals C-5A Gray & White set which should help confuse the punters as the colour scheme looks similar to that used early in the VC-10's career with the RAF.

Hehehehe, I DO like the sound of that Alastair.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

And of course having a C-5 in the stash its going to get a set of decals intended for the VC-10   ;D

They're going to need to be a BIG set of decals!  :o

I vote KC, with a real refueling boom!  That is a great scheme.

Just a normal transport C-16 although I agree the idea does give options.

I intend to use the decals to do the zig zag part and then mast the rest of the cheat line, or rather I will cheat with the cheat line  ;D

The engine parts go together nicely. Only problem I have found with them though is that the exhausts are hollow. Should I simply blank them at the inside of the rear part or should I attempt to make some kind of tube?

I'd just blank them off and paint the interior black. It's 1/144 scale so very few people will be able to see in there anyway.

Partly to prove that I have actually done something with this build here are some pictures

First put a couple of engines together

Cut some black foam roughly to shape

Glue the foam into the engines

And you solve the problem of what to do about nothing at the rear of the engies to stop people looking right up the exhausts  :o

Good heavens, Roden have actually got the shape of the trailing edge of the engine pylons right for the Super VC10. That's something that no manufacturer has actually managed before, neither FROG nor Welsh Models in 1/144, and even Transport Wings didn't get it exactly right in 1/72.  :o

I notice the odd chunk of MB5 on the bench there too.............  ;D

I rather like the concept of the President flying in on a Super VC10 VC16.
