Day-Glo Orange and Red

Does anybody know the closest Tamiya or Vallejo paint number to Day-Glo Orange or Red?

I've got some Tamiya Gunze Flouro Orange.  Is that what you mean or is there a specific "Day-Glo" Orange or red official shade you are after?

its worth a looksee at your local car accessory or art supplies store, the fluorescent spray cans are normally pretty good and come in different shades

Vallejo do:
71.082 Fluorescent Red
70.733 Fluorescent Orange

It depends on what you intend represent and when, some appear more Orange, whilst others are more Red. I think I used the Tamiya Florescent Red on a RN SAR Wessex I did over a white base coat.

The RN eventually switched from the Dayglo Red to Signal Red due to the poor ware & tear of the specialist paints.

Do you have to use a white undercoat with these dayglo colours or can they stand on their own? The base colour of the model I'm doing will be natural metal or High Speed Silver, probably provided by Halfords basic Silver shade.

For some enamels white is suggested as a base colour especially fishing weights.

Definitely white or Pink the paint has a translucent quality so needs as much help as it can get. (I think TSRjoe has a reference where they stipulate a pink base coat for the real paint but i'll leave that to him to confirm)

I've used flouro orange surveyors marker paint to paint model car bodies.

Depending on what you want it for there are some decal sheets with day glo patches/stripes,
Xtracolour decal do two, one in 1/48 and one in 1/72 (X48160 and X72115) and the new Airfix J.P.
Kit also features some day glo stripes.

DEFINITELY! I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the pointer. 

[Later] Looks like they don't have the 1/72 version, but the 1/48 sheet would have more decal to play with for my purposes.

I bought that 1/48 sheet and another Model Art sheet that has large areas of red dayglo. (and another MB5 too...... )
