That does look good mate

Strangely to my eyes if you ditched the un-ditching beam (sorry) and put rising sun flags on it I can see it in China, circa 1935/36 ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

TAKOM do a boxing of their 1/35 Whippet in Japanese colours with Japanese MGs.

Probably the most well known photo of China campaign Whippets.

RAFF-35

I did think it looked like it'd work as a ww2 Japanese tank myself
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

I think I might be calling this one finally done, although I might have gone a bit to hard on the dark fresh mud.... but here we go......

Well I'll be .................  ;) Didn't know that. Put it down to the "you learn something new everyday if you are smart enough to listen and read"

Cheers Jon

Can't go wrong with a Whippet, wonderfully odd.  Great mods.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

RAFF-35

Thanks mossie  you're right though, there's a fair amount of whiffing potential from the perhaps often overlooked whippet

Definitely, that tower has potential, all sorts you can add to it or replace it with.  If they had got the turret on the prototype working well that might have influenced British tank design.

Would it have made much of a difference with the turret having been developed this early? It didn't do much for the French designs in my opinion  an SPG version could work right?  ;)

I always felt the French didn't look back after the Renault FT and FCM 2C?

SPG, why not?  There was a male version of the Hornet envisioned, I guess you could cram a small caliber gun in the Whippet with some limited traverse.

Agree with you there on both Mossie.

As for an S.P.G. based on the Whippet, why not. Perhaps the same 57mm as mounted in the male versions of the Mk I/V ? Or mount the small "mountain gun" as used in India. I think it was 2.75" calibre so bigger then the 57mm but not sure about recoil which is probably the main concern if mounting a gun in the Whippet ?

Yeah, there's not a lot of room in a whippet.  Here's the prototype with the MG turret to give an idea of the room inside (although they did extend the tower to the rear in the production Whippet).
