Hope you've increased the gain on the perimeter sensors after Taunting Murphy like that... 

Well, after the first day when I fitted a new blade and put a little of myself into the build...

Just a little trimming of wing root blanking plates today.

Not knowing what the "standard" arrangement was for this sort of thing i've put the turret on the left fuselage making it Right Hand Drive.

The only RW Zwilling that I know that had turrets was the He-111Z and that had two of everything. That means your Yak 9д IS the 'standard'. 

OK.  But in which fuselage did the pilot sit?  And if they had one in each, was it standard practice to have the senior pilot in one specific side?  What about in Twin Mustangs?
I suppose I could look this up but I am bone idle and i'm sure you know.

And almost certainly the Soviet's would have done it the other way around.

I don't know about the He-111Z, but in the Twin Mustang the Captain was in the port fuselage.

IIRC, the He 11Z had only one true cockpit - portside. But there was a co-pilot on the other side, too (actually more of a navigator) with a limited instrumentation and not full able to replace the pilot.

That plastic looks like the soft as a bar of soap plastic with the Airfix spitfire among others.  One swipe too much with the sanding stick and you find you just cut a foot or so scale wise into the structure! Careful indeed.  Neat idea!  Dave

...mainly because todays work consisted of smearing filler around the turret mounting.

As far as which side to put the pilot, I am happy with my decision.  If the US and Germany went for Left hand drive then it stands to reason that (like with cars) the correct side to drive from must be the Right.

A bit of sanding followed by attaching the port wing (trimming required with the knife and no blood drawn!).
I then joined the two fuselages with a strut to which I glued the lift fan.
The structure between the two fuselages is going to be open rather than faired in aerofoil shape like in my drawing.
The tails will be joined by a horizontal stabiliser.

That was the plan but today i've glued the round fan housing directly to the wing roots in order to make the thing as narrow as possible.
There will be some fillets and bracing struts still though.

A few more struts added today and I stuffed some foam into various orifices.

Started scratching up a horizontal stabiliser, carved off the outer horizontal tail bosses, patched the ensuing holes and drilled and installed tubes for the prop shafts.
