Looks like you need 1/72 scale ambulances and cop cars too!  ;D ;D

Those drivers in the bottom left pic are obviously all tourists.  They are not tailgating enough to be Australians... ;D

Thanks Captain Canada, sorry to interrupt your hockey TV.

Kit, now that would be a Whiffy if it were an ambulance and a cop car in a pickle.
Often sugarcane trucks travel across this bridge, but to buy a 1/72 scale truck, or any truck, is far too expensive. I think trucks are more of a collector's item.

zenrat, of course they are tourists. Even without tailgating they still get themselves into a bingle.  ;D

Sorry to be away for so long. I met a pretty girl and, well you know the rest.

Here are some update photos for the this project:

Refurbishing the Console Interior for its Wiring Diorama effect.

Cleaned up and painted the Console Control Panel.

Created wiring harness for the console by following the methods used for automotive wiring... which worked out well.

Wired the harness to the underside of the Control Panel.

more updates tomorrow.

Good to see this on the move again!

Welcome back Ify.
What you are now doing is the (to me anyway) mysterious voodoo part with the wires and the sparks and the zappy zappy bzzzzttttt bang.
Good luck.

Thank you Old Wombat, Captain Canada, and zenrat for your responses.

Here are some more updates.

Wiring in the harness to the terminal boards.

Connected another harness from terminal boards to D-Connectors mounted to back of console.
These connectors are for cabling the console to the display table via its Control Box.

Installed a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor within the console.
This is to activate the console's Wiring Diorama when somebody approaches the display.

Bought some felt and dyed it gray colour. Then lined the console edges with it.

Installed LED strip around inside edge of console opening.

Attached the clear perspex front panel and a portion of the original (metal) panel at its base (for protection from wondering feet).
Drilled holes into the perspex to allow Infrared waves to reach the PIR sensor.

Jeepers, some of my road simulator consoles looked simpler than that!  :o

Superb wiring jobs there.

This build reminds me of a train museum I visited in Japan.  They had a 1/1 scale conductors booth (or whatever you call it), complete with controls and you drove model trains (not sure the scale.. OO maybe?) around a track with little cameras mounted on them.

Fun stuff.
Thanks!

It's called a 'cab'.  ;D

At least it is in the UK, and in the US too IIRC.

Thanks for your response.
The whole idea about this antiquated console was that it operates the bridge as well as being impressive to today's standards. This is my goal anyway. So far I think I got the impressive part okay, but still not sure about the operating part

The camera suggestion sounds like a great idea. The video cameras are so small these days. They could be placed within the model itself as if showing the operators point of view.
