And he's a flippin' boat builder! Are there no end to the man's talents? :o
Ha ha ha, your funny. Thanks for the compliment.

Determined the waterline and marked the bulkheads. Used the cabin ceiling as the horizon.
Then planked the waterline, and laid in the planks in between.

Then filleted the boat like a fish and sanded the bottom flat and smooth.

Thanks NARSES2.

Making extras that the kit does not provide, plus preparing some of the parts for next step.
Two sets of red-green navigational light hoods. One for upstream and other for downstream.

Added winch drum and a hand crank. Adding a deckhand, sitting on a box.

Stained the doors, and later the cabin roofs, with coloured ink.
Added bits of copper wire to look like door hinges.
Painted spare life-savers to look like bumper tyres.
Unravelled some string to make the deckhand appear to be splicing a rope.

Used some wood putty and sanded the hull smooth. It will be painted.
Made rigging eyelets from a paper clip and attached them to their appropiate places.

I showed some of these pictures to my brother who was a shipwright on the Wear. He was suitably impressed

Thank you NARSES2 for your compliment.

Made several LED cables. All LEDs are 3 mm and clear until lit. It makes for less confusion especially for the red and green nav lights.
Only one LED lead needs sheilding for insulation. The black mark on lead is to tell me which is the LED cathode (K)/(-).

Used the end of a pen as a beacon housing.

Added copper wire railing on cabin roof.

The front cabin walls were too thin to contain any interior lighting. Made a light shield and reflector to compensate.

Made stern light hoods. Added nav light hoods, and a radar unit.

That's some excellent work. It's nice to see a project like this coming together.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Guy in the blue shirt almost looks as though he's just about to bowl a full toss in one of the pictures  ;D

Lovely work

Ho ho ho  and coming from the other bow section.
Great idea. Thanks. I might use that with the other council workers.

The boat is to be placed on a base plate. The plate is attached to the aluminium vane that goes through the table to the pulley-cable system.
Four electrical connections need to be part of the 2 mm thick vane. These will provide both power and signals to the boat lighting system.

The electrical connections are via a printed circuit board, which is 0.5 mm thinner than the vane.
So it has some clearance away from scraping along the slot in the table.

This portion of the project is on hold, until certain parts become available.
In the meantime, the boat needs to be rigged.

Shouldn't you use a palindrome for the boat's name? Like Glenelg, or Madam Adam, or Rotator?

Good job, by the way!

 That is a good idea missed.

Though the boat name, Bingal, does have some connection to a play on words.
Bingal, was the original (Aboriginal) name for Wardell, where the actual bridge is located. The name is close to the word bingle, meaning a collision. In this case a collision of two bow sections. As a hidden emphasis, there is a bingle, on the Bingal, by the deckcrew.
