even though there's enough room to submit an idea under several banners.

I think that's the beauty of some of the ideas in some ways

Well we seem to be seeing some leaders of the pack emerging and some surprise me if I'm honest.

As things stand we may well need a run off, so if you haven't voted please do. Just over the week to go.

We now have 3 front runners, one of which suprises me I must admit.

If you haven't voted then you've a few days to go.

Steel Penguin

Mr Kiss of Death here didn't vote for any of the 3 front runners.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Sorry I did not bring this up earlier, but I just noticed that "cold war" and "civilianize/militarize" are on the poll (and doing well) but we did both of these builds in the past year or two.   While they are obviously popular, and we had good participation in both, I wonder if we should retire conducted themes for a period?  Perhaps too late as the poll is live but perhaps for the future we impose a ~3 year retirement on repeating a GB theme?  This may allow some of the perennial runner ups to get their chance and be less repetitive.  Thoughts?

Not that I'm the greatest GB participant, I take far too long for my builds, but I agree with that point 100%.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Right.

I'm glad someone has brought that up (and it's been seconded  ;)) as I've had similar thoughts. In particular we would appear to have a Soviet/Russia or similar build every year or so.

Now I really don't have an axe to grind either way as I'm merely the servant of the masses  ;D but now it's been raised I'll run a poll after we have sorted out the next set of GB's to see what the membership feels/wants.

That ok ?

That would be fine Chris- thanks as always.   Although some of these themes have lots of popularity we should not repeat the same (or very similar) GB's too often.

3 year moratorium on a theme?

I'll be putting a couple of options in the poll when I run it. Not sure when that will be as I've a few things running with the site at the moment. So probably when this poll is sorted and the One Week GB timings are clear in my head.

I'll close this poll sometime tomorrow.

NARSES2

Right gentlemen the poll is closed and the group has decided.

The winner is Science Fiction with 14 votes.

Second place the flying boat, seaplane and amphibian GB

Third place the Cold War GB

Now I will have a look at scheduling and try and publish some provisional dates tomorrow for these three and the One Week GB. Now I will be running the Cold War GB as the final build of the trio simply because we are currently coming to the end of the Soviet GB and the two are similar.

On the subject of a Cold War GB there have been various other "cold wars" throughout history although they wouldn't of used the name. When we come to it we will need to decide exactly what we mean by the term, but that's nine months or so down the line.

Anyway thank you all for taking part and I'll try and get back to you tomorrow with first ideas for dates.
