Thanks for the kind words all! It was a nice little build that languished for longer than it should have - I'll never understand where the original clear parts went.

Cap'n - I only use Tamiya acrylics (except when I accidentally order Tamiya enamels). The RNZAF SEA scheme I have in my phone is XF-27, XF-52 and a custom mix of XF-65+XF-5+XF-2 for FS34102...a stupidly tricky colour for me to match. Humbrol Gloss before decals, Humbrol Satin after.

Whilst looking for something else the other day I found a sheet of Kiwi national markings in the stash. This build has inspired me to find something I can use the ones that had the red fern leaf on them on

Late mark Spitfire ? Tempest II ?

A P-51H, maybe? A RNZAF Hunter would IMHO also be cool.
We were meant to get P-51Ms, but I've never been able to find out for sure if they were a developed D or H. And I thought for a long time a Territorial Air Force Mk22 would be a good use of the Airfix 1/72 kit.

Some of the die-hards will remember this build from 2006

Ohhh man.   I love all of these!!

Hmm, time to dig out my Corsair from the pile. Feeling inspired now!

As an addendum - accidently came across these Jaguars (at ARC):

Also a nice option!

Hadn't thought of that. Mainly because I wasn't aware of a New Zealand Territorial AF.

Oddly, this Kiwi Jag has the tail emblem of the RAAF's 75 Sqn.

OW - my guess is she was zapped ;-) Damian was a member here way back when too, he's more occupied with 1:1 cars these days.

Any real-world RNZAF Mustang you see is in TAF markings. There were four squadrons in the early-mid 1950s. Basically NMF/HSS with normal six-place roundels and territorial chequers - based on local rugby team jerseys - on the fuselage. To give you an idea this warbird example is in 3 (Canterbury) Sqn colours:

Which other nation would base squadron markings on the local rugby team?

Wales?  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Captain Canada

Cheers Zac thanks. PS- I love the weapons load. I've built 2 or 3 Corsairs in my day, and all of them have been loaded !

Probably Oz, too...   ;D

Yep, a SLUF somehow doesn't look 'right' without filled-to-the-brim pylons...

Dug out the A-7 kit, work soon to start as a sister ship to this build here.  ;D

Not in Victoria.  We'd use the local footy team.
Blue with red & white stripes for the Bulldogs, Black & White stripes and up on bricks for Collingwood...
