The Royal New Zealand Air Force had the Corsair II on the list to replace the Canberra, but we ended up buying the Skyhawk. But if we'd gone with Vought for a second time...

This is the old Hasegawa kit with OldModels Decals markings for the A-4K. I had somehow managed to lose the windscreen and canopy which meant it was on hold for a long time, so many, many thanks to Rick Lowe for sending me F-8 clear bits (which unfortunately didn't fit) and to our resident retired engineer elmayerle for sending me a replacement set at ridiculous cost to himself.

She's lovely Zac.  Good job.

I often have the same problem with my ground crew.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That works in so many ways mate, well done

Nice work Zac on a dated kit

You should try and get the Hobbyboss kit and do that in the later scheme if you can get the decals, whould look quite tasty in the jungle wraparound and low profile markings armed with the likes of late model Sidewinders and Mavericks or smart bombs  ;)

Just love the SLUF. Lovely model and excellent job on the camo

Wholly believable and looks the business too!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Nice! A RNZAF A-7 is also on my long project list. I had already a Hobby Boss kit stashed away for the occasion, as well as suitable decals - but it would look different, with a wraparound paint scheme (and not the A-4's Lizard scheme). Inspiration - maybe I tackle mine this summer, finally...

Beautiful work, man! Looks so legit......     Beastly, too, that head on shot!

Nice work, Zac - come out really well.

Whilst looking for something else the other day I found a sheet of Kiwi national markings in the stash. This build has inspired me to find something I can use the ones that had the red fern leaf on them on

Late mark Spitfire ? Tempest II ?

A P-51H, maybe? A RNZAF Hunter would IMHO also be cool.

Great work Zac ! Love the look of this one in those colours and markings. What paints and colours did you use ? Looksperfect. I'm going to save the colours for future use cheers !

Thanks for the kind words all! It was a nice little build that languished for longer than it should have - I'll never understand where the original clear parts went.

Cap'n - I only use Tamiya acrylics (except when I accidentally order Tamiya enamels). The RNZAF SEA scheme I have in my phone is XF-27, XF-52 and a custom mix of XF-65+XF-5+XF-2 for FS34102...a stupidly tricky colour for me to match. Humbrol Gloss before decals, Humbrol Satin after.

We were meant to get P-51Ms, but I've never been able to find out for sure if they were a developed D or H. And I thought for a long time a Territorial Air Force Mk22 would be a good use of the Airfix 1/72 kit.

Some of the die-hards will remember this build from 2006
