Looking to build one of my Mobius 1/72 Mk. II Vipers, just don't know what scheme to paint Non-BSG of course.
"Mind that bus." "What bus?" *SPLAT!*

My current 1WkGB build is going to leave me a spare set of No.II(AC) squadron markings which would go very nicely on a Revell Snowspeeder...

I'm not sure I've ever built anything that could be called Science Fiction ? If I see anything that takes my fancy at Northern Show tomorrow that may change  ;)

You don't need to be steeped in 'sci-fi culture' to do something sci-fi. For instance, you could take a real spacecraft and modify it a bit. Suppose, for instance, that  the US shared or sold it's Apollo technology to Europe: get a model of an Apollo CSM or lander, change the design a bit ('cos you know, our 'unique national requirements' and all that...), and stick British/French/German flags on it.

And of course it doesn't have to be space.
Jurassic Park is Sci Fi as is Outbreak, Mad Max and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

This is the perfect excuse for me to finally start my decade old USS Lexington "conversion".

Does anime count as Sci-if? I've got 3 ideas for small-ish projects related to Macross, Castle in the Sky Laputa and Nausicaa...
Thanks!

Some anime is sci fi, some isn't.
Macross, Laputa and Nausicaa would be, My neighbour Totoro, Area 88 and Spirited Away wouldn't.
Don't forget Anime just means Japanese animation.

Is it Sci-Fi?   Tick!

Looks to me like you can join, as long as the Mechanika is not more than a few percent built.

Yes, you have!

The whole premis of "What if ..." is Science Fiction, as it's a branch of the Alternate History arm of SF.

Fair point and not one I've ever really thought about. As I've said before my Sci Fi reading has been very limited and what I have read has been very much in the EE Doc Smith genre.

I would say; if it is not a real thing in its correct historical context, then it's science fiction.

Typhoons over Gallipoli; Raptor-riding knights at Agincourt; Challenger II's at El Alamein 1942 - all science fiction.

Aether-filled, Voltaic-cell-powered, bronze & brass zeppelins bombing London in 1902 - science fiction.

Centurion, Conqueror, M-47 & M-48 tanks engaged in a desperate fighting retreat from the Fulda Gap in 1962 - science fiction.

The battleship Prince of Wales salvaged from the depths of the South China Sea, rebuilt as a faster-than-light spaceship & sent out to defend Earth from evil aliens - (very derivative) science fiction.

Of the above list I kinda like the idea of the raptor-riding knights & the bronze zeppelins. ;)
