BTW, here's the one on display at a park in Portimão, where i live. The blog and pics are from a Portuguese spotter, Rui Guerreiro. it's been there for quite a few years now and it's been rotting away cause the city hall doesn't want to spend money on it... :banghead:

Thanks for the pics!

A bit more progress today.  First got the canopy on and masked.  I think because I was rushing I may have left some glue-enhanced fingerprints on the surface by accident.  Luckily it's on both sides equally, so we'll just say it's anti-reflective glare technology for desert warfare... yeah, that's the ticket!

Also, was able to scratch out the wheel wells a bit and painted them and all the underside bits aluminium. This is going to come down to the wire I think, but I'm still in it.

Thanks!

this is gonna be a great looking aircraft, i can feel it
i havent seen the G.91 in area 88 livery yet, as i havent found the original manga here (did read the first 29 translated comics online and seen the OVA and 2004 TV series).

on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

That undercarriage would never fit into that space.  :o

Looks great in that patchy grey finish.  Like something that's been in a boneyard for a decade or so.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Well, Mario's G.91 technically doesn't appear in the manga.  It's mentioned in issue 14 when Mario Bandini shows up and the mercenaries talk about him flying solo for the Frecce Tricolori - although incorrectly called a Fiat G9. So this build is basically just "What If" Mario hadn't been a cocky idiot and not gotten himself shot out of the sky long enough to get his own plane... a G.91 fighter/bomber that he'd be comfortable with.
Thanks!

I know the undercarriage is oversized. If I'd had more time, I would've cut out the wheel wells and scratched up a deeper one.  Oh well.  I cut a lot of my normal corners, including painting 3 different colours freehand without a mask, and applying a coat of Future and panel line accents all in the span of about 6 hours. I just hope it all still dries properly.

Anyway, she's done.  I'll post up some better pics in the daylight for the completed entry thread, but I wanted to clock in here now.  I made it!

Thanks!

Wow, what a sprint finish! All paints in 6 hours! Came out very well.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

That is really pretty. The 6 hour paint sprint blows my mind!

That was the most hairraising finish to a build ever! When I realized I still had an hour left, I decided to add a few decals and a tiny bit of black around the cockpit and tail fin.

Literally took the last pics 2 minutes before the bell rang.  :o

Thanks!

Looks awesome   Whether is was a rush job or not, I think the paint job looks great!

DogfighterZen

Beauty indeed! Rushing a build is not good for the result but i guess that's part of the fun in a GB of this type, right? I had fun, even with the accidents suffered because of trying to rush it...
