Be aware that these guillotines are primarily designed to cut strip-wood - balsa and small size
basswood etc.,and can have difficulty with plastic unless it's fairly thin. How thick is the blade?.
My NorthWest Short Line Chopper II uses a single edged razor blade and with thick material
it tends to produce a slightly beveled rather than dead-flush cut as the blade is slightly deflected
during the cut. A thicker blade would probably alleviate the problem.

I tried it out on some 40 thou which it didn't cut through but it did cut mostly through, so much that it was easy to bend and break the card with no effort which will do for me. A more substantial tool will probably be sought in the fullness of time and at the price I got this I am certainly not going to complane.

This is what I bought and where I bought it from

After I got hold of the Victoria Productions moulds for their Avro Arrow, I had intended to put it back into production. But the kits would have been more expensive than the injection kits that were around. So to cut the cost down (it was the shipping cost that really killed the project) I decided to trim all the excess plastic off the formed sheets. I bought one of those office guillotines used for trimming paper and cardboard, well complete waste of money -- it cut the first sheet I tried but then for the next cut it just bent the plastic down 90 degrees, looking at why it did that I notice the blade hinge had got bent, it now won't even cut paper ---

And I've got two of those Arrows too.  ;D

I ought to get on and build one!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I was going to sell all the formed up kits I had cheap just to offload them, I've got about 25 of the forty left, only problem is --- there's one of the formed sheet missing now so I'll have to vacuform some more before I can.

On my day trip to Edinburgh today I bought the following

Lightcraft USB Magnifier Spectacles & Headband. Tried them out and they look as if they will be handy especially for working with Etch. Cheaper to get the USB version as Batteries cost money and the computer is on already...

Arrived today from the Czech Republic

Lots of plastic bags containing parts for a model stand.

Saw it in use on Britmodeler and asked about it only to find out it was a custom made item. So after several emails back and forth I ended up with a new kit of sorts.

Will post pictures of it when it's built and with my build rate don't hold your breath

Oh look an Allen key !
It's a kit to build to help you build kits then ?

It's a Jig, though jiggered if I will get it to go together correctly

Saw it being used with someone building a Biplane and as there are a couple in the StashTM I thought I had better get something that can hold all those wings together. It would work ok with just two wings as well so that's a bonus

After years of using Squadron putty and/or BONDO, a friend suggested I try Perfect Plastic Putty.
After trying it on a few pieces of my USS Iowa model to fill seams, I can definately say I am never going back to using Squadron and Bondo ever again. This PPP is awesome.  And it's made in the UK too.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I like Perfect Plastic Putty as well.  Only problem is cleaning the nozzle.  I use it for most small areas that need filling and I use Milliput for large areas.

I think PPP and similar (like Vallejo) are just repackaged artist acrylic modeling pastes, like the ones made by Liquitex. They certainly have very similar properties.

NARSES2

Yup I'm a fan of PPP for small gaps, but for larger areas and particularly for blending ill fitting parts or reshaping parts then you need a more traditional putty IMHO. I currently use Tamiya because it's what I have in the drawer, but many others are ok for the job
