Because I have a cunning plan for Telford, no turnips are involved, I needed to get a couple of new paintbrushes. There is a Hobbycraft near my work so on the way home I popped in.

So I ended up with more than just the two I wanted

The upside was that each cost me £0.38 but I could not get what I wanted any other way. Quite a variety of types included.

Picked up a plastic digital caliper to replace my old one, at a market in Bakewell, for a devastating £6.

Utterly useless for any engineering purposes of course, but fine for little plastic models.

Pick up any tarts at the same time ? Pastry ones of course  ;)

Seriously. Any chance of  posting a picture ? I'd like to get one and it would be nice to know what to look out for.

Not so much my toolbox but my workbench got an overhaul. Was just intending a little reorganization but then things got interesting. I figured after being back in the hobby for a couple years now this was more than a passing fad so it was time for a real workspace. Was using an old dinette table and computer desk as well as some cheap paint racks and such. So decided to get new desk and chair but the main star is the pegboard. It's based on the Ikea Skadis pegboard system. What's really cool is there are lots of accessories for these boards that you can download and 3D print.  You can even print more boards.  I found and printed out just the things I needed for the tools and such that I use. So after 3weeks, a couple of filament spools, and giving my little Bambu A1-mini a workout I ended up with this. I even got a real printer stand for the printer since it had worked so hard  ;D

Here you go.

Having had a chance to read the label now, it turns out that it's carbon-fibre, not just plastic, so it might be harder and more resilient than I first thought.
Design-wise, it's just a perfectly ordinary digitial caliper, but black instead of silver.

The annoying thing about those inexpensive digital calipers is how quickly they deplete their batteries. The Off switch just switches the display off but leaves the electronics powered on, so it can remember where it is instead of having to start at zero every time.
I wired an Off switch into mine.

As I ended up at my 'country home' on Monday, after being at Telford all weekend, I had 4-5 kits with me, but no tools or glue etc. so a trip to Hobbycraft was called for as it's the nearest thing to an LHS here.

I got knives, blades, glue, sanding sticks, cutting mat etc. so I can build something before heading home next week.

If I'm sensible I'll leave all that stuff here of course............

I take the battery out of mine. I should install a switch.

Some of these calipers have an extra port for a serial connection, so you could wire them up to a computer via a serial cable (or USB to serial cable) and collect the data.
