Last Friday I got my Trumpeter Graf Zeppelin in 1/350. The kit looks nice in the box although there is an awful lot of photo etch. And I hate photo etch    :-\

But today I looked at the short history that is printed on the box and I start to wonder if I have the kit of the right ship  ;D ;D

Are you sure it's not, maybe, a tank? :o

Trumpeter must be emp.loying the same translator used by japanese brands in the sixties  :banghead:

they also released the unbuilt second carrier, DKM Peter Strasser.

i'm waiting for them to release the 1/700th version along with the scaled down Ark Royal. I did treat myself to the 1/350th Ark Royal but can't justify the Graf Zeppelin.

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I built one some years ago but it is not a very good kit. Very low on detail and the aircraft are just some blobs with wings.

Some of those were brilliant though  ;D

I wonder if the translation is done by machine ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

HP Models does one in 1/700:

As does OrangeHobby who did an excellent example a couple of years ago with all the etched brass and whatnot, but I think i'll await the Trumpeter kit as in no rush and they are not in a hurry as still waiting on their HMS Belfast, especially the 1959 post war update one, which should provide parts to allow other ships to be updated to that 50s style which should be fun.
