Ever had one of those days when you're sitting in the middle of a pile of stuff stacked up everywhere and you don't know what to do because every time you decide to start working on "z" you realize you need to do "y" first... but when you track down "y", you suddenly remember that you forgot to do "x"... but by the time you figured that out, you've already put glue on "w" and now you don't know where to put it because you can't find your tweezers?

And then, once you've got everything sorted out from "s" through "z", you find out you can't check your reference material for the paint mix ratio because you left the "i" (pad) in the bedroom and now your wife is taking a shower and locked the door...

So then you just throw up your hands and...

...and start a new build.   ;D

Done that a few times
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

My late Dad had a Citroen GS that need the engine taken out to adjust the handbrake!

Now that's poor engineering! :banghead:

C'est Citroen, c'est normal...............

The GS had the handbrake on the front wheels, and the engine was a flat four mounted on a subframe. The handbrake linkeage was in BETWEEN the sump and the subframe, with maybe 1.5" gap.  :banghead: :banghead:

So I finally got the Ponyo submarine finished tonight.  I've been holding off on posting any pics in anticipation of a "big reveal".  But now that it's done, it effectively caps the Studio Ghibli project as far as the GB is concerned, so you can expect some pics soon.  Meanwhile I'm still working on a few more mini projects, including the Lupin Fiat... but thought it'd be fun to throw in a little Ghibli resin casting project a la "Spirited Away" as well....

Here's what we'll need to start with: a 1/150 scale figure and a cheap, mispainted figure of No Face...

The figure needs some adjustment, so bring out the epoxy putty.  Before And after.

Next we need a cup full of silicone... I wonder where No Face went?

Ahh, there he is.  I wonder what's down there?

A little bit of paint and we're reenacting a scene from the movie.
Thanks!

Alright... so let's sprint to the finish line...

Time to take the plunge.  Added a bit of Black paint for colour and a tiny bit of fishing line to the frogman' foot to keep him teathered and not go too deep into the mold.

Look what I ate for dinner...

The frogman is a bit more visible than I thought...

Looks ready for a spa treatment.

Hmmm... we seem to have a bit of an acne problem...

Added a bit of putty, sanded, primed and painted.

You can still see the frog

And done... still see a bit of the bubbles... but whatever.
Thanks!

And... here's the Ponyo Submarine, finally finished!

I had a lot of trouble to get a good photo of the stand, but this GB inspired me to include a bit of lighting for the first time (Cough! Dragonfly! Cough!).  It's not much, and after I got the bubble glued in place I realized it was a bit off the mark.  But all in all I'm pretty happy with the results of this entire GB.
Thanks!

Alright.  I've still got a few little Ghibli projects up my sleeve... the Lupin Fiat, the Laputa robot and the pirate car, but as far as the GB itself is concerned, I'm done.

To celebrate, I decided to take a few pics of the whole family of projects. I think I'm going to just enter it as is in one lump sum.  A few components aren't, strictly speaking, Sci-Fi elements, but since this is WHIF World, my plan is to call the project the "What If Brainiac shrank down the Studio Ghibli Museum using his advanced technology and put it in a bottle right next to the City of Kandor"?

There.  That oughta do it. ;)

Of course, seconds after taking these pics, I knocked the Laputa Flapter off the edge.  Luckily a bit of CA glue was all that was needed to reattach one of the wings and half the seat belt.  Whew!
Thanks!

For some reason I can see all the pics you posted on the 'Finished Models' thread (AWESOME stuff BTW!) but can't see any of the last lot you posted on here.  :banghead:

[Later] Weird, after posting that reply I can see SOME of them but not all.

I've heard of most of these animes but I've never seen most of them. However, despite that, this is a fun group of little models.

Well done, strobez! Beautifully executed!

PS: I can see all of them!

That is some nicely detailed, quality building right there. Imaginative use of raw materials and the execution is first rate.

And in the One True Scale too - added bonus points!

And now I can see ALL of them! Amazing work, even though I don't understand them one bit.

I restarted my laptop recently, that seems to help out seeing the pics.  ;D

I'm having trouble seeing the pics as they are taking forever to load.  I've tried other threads and other people's pics are loading nice and quickly.  Sorry strobez, i'm blaming you and imgur... :-\

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thanks guys.  It's funny... I set out to do something completely different for this GB - and my planned kit is still on the docket for "eventually" - but I started down this road with two small "warm up" builds... and now I have a shelf full of 'em.

It's weird that he pics are taking so long to load.  I wonder if it's something in the way I've posted them...?
Thanks!

That's how ya know you had a lot of fun!!  We had fun watching, too.

As far as the other, it seemed to me that us in the States weren't having problems viewing the pics but folks overseas were. (I was here looking at them at the same time as the others and had no issues) Probably servers talking to each other and not quite getting the job done. I've seen this type of thing before even just in the US...  like... people in the middle of the country would be able to do things while people on the East coast couldn't. Usually just a server acting up.
