I'm looking for a pair of C-130 wing tanks. IIRC they're the same on the E/K or J versions so I'm not fussed if they come from an Airfix or an Italeri kit.

I thought someone did them in resin, but I can't find any.  :banghead:

IIRC, it was Heritage Aviation.  Which means it could be Alleycat now.

Thanks for that Robert, but despite the VAST range of stuff that they do, they don't do those tanks, not at the moment anyway.

Have you considered scaleoraming 1/48 tanks or do they need to be specifically C130 ones?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I hadn't, mainly because I don't 'think 1/48' normally. I have a 'scale filter' that's set at 1/71 scale......  ;D

They don't actually need to be C-130 tanks, no, I just want BIG-ish ones.

Kit, are you in a rush for them? I've got a C-130 vacuform conversion set somewhere in the stash. It has a load of parts to build just about any variant of early C-130 (pre-C-130J that is). I'll look for it and see if it has tanks but it might take a while to find it (on the weekend).
I was looking through the various website and found OzMods does a C-130A conversion. It has some tanks but the 'A' had them installed outside the outer engines
Another thought, some time ago I was looking for something similar, I was looking for under wing tanks to go on my Sunderland project. I went with a pair of 1/48 F-101 tanks -----

Oh hell!  :banghead:

I've got that same vacform conversion kit somewhere too! The one that lets you build the ski-equipped USN version that they flew in Antarctica? I didn't think of looking at that, but I will now. Thanks for the tip Robert.

I inherited a box of 1/48 scale underling stores. There are loads of tanks....if you give me rough dimensions I'll see if there are a suitable pair....be at the weekend though as away at the mo....maybe length and diameter....H

Magic Hank, thanks, there's no real rush for them as yet.

1/72 C-130 tanks are around 105 mm long and 15 mm in diameter, with rounded noses and pointy tails.

Thanks Steve, but I think those are the ones that I have already, the ones that kitnut617 mentioned above.

Yes,
They come from the same set. :banghead:

Problem solved.

While trawling through The Loft I found to my amazement I had an original Airfix Herk, complete with Bloodhound missile (and guard dog...) which has TWO complete fuselages, so I now have the required tanks.

Thanks for all the offered ideas etc.

I'm OK now thanks Hank, the old Airfix ones are pretty darn close to the much newer Italeri ones, thank goodness.

But thanks for the offer anyway.
