Forward-swept wings

Many years ago I built a 1/48 F-18 - I forget what company made the kit, but I think it was probably Testors.  Anyway, a few years and many moves later, one of the wings came adrift and then was lost.  I acquired some thick (1/4") white plastic sheet (from a display, I believe) and decided to make some replacement wings - forward swept.

A paper template was drawn, cut, and test-fit.  I liked it, so I went ahead and hacksawed the plastic.  Many hours of filing later (double mill-cut), some wire stubs for strength, and much super-glue, a dab of gray/grey paint, and she looked beautiful!  (My father, the aeronautical engineer, said 'Yes, but what about tip-flutter?')  A few years later I noticed that the GI Joe franchise had a similar aircraft for Cobra.   

Well, I no longer have that model - I have moved many, many times since then - but I've never forgotten my liking of forward-swept wings.  I think a Lightning would look amazing with such a set-up.  Has anyone done one?
