The Venerable Mike McEvoy has been waxing lyrical over the Fantastic Plastic 1/144 Vickers Super Bomber of late, of which he has two, and today he sent me some pics of the first one he's built. Mike's calling it the Vickers Winchester, which sounds very appropriate.

It's ENORMOUS by the look of it against that Vampire in one pic, and I'm going to try like crazy to get to the Brampton Show to see it in the plastic.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Plastic!

;D

Nice work there! That's great. He didn't waste any time building it, either!  I like the white over black scheme, too.

I want one myself but I'll be waiting for the 1/72 version. (Might be awhile)

It would be huge and cost the same as some middle sized countries national debt I reckon !

The Middle East would have to significantly increase oil production as well ;D

It's almost B-36 size as far as I can discover, 210 ft span as opposed to 230 ft.  :o

Yup! and I've got most of the parts collected to build one in 1/72 scale.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Just got mine - it really is nice (and big) - now trying to work out how to whiff a whiff. Need a scheme other than grey over black. Sadly, converting it to the later version of the design (with single central fin) looks well beyond me.

Bare metal with Enola Gay nose-art and USAAF markings.  ;D

Looking at it I must admit that I'm a little concerned about the self harm those fuselage m.g.'s mounted just behind the canards might cause ?

Classic Bomber Command WWII camouflage is probably to obvious but how about brown/green over azure blue or maybe medium sea grey over azure ?

Yes indeed, I see just what you mean. The classic British 'mid-upper turret', or two of them, would make much more sense.
