Me four... and the part of my cutting matt that has all the lines erased is the proof!

Anyway, I got a bit further along in the Opel Olympia project.  As per Rick's suggestion, I cut down and sanded a bit of plastic card for the side vents.  They're a bit big, but any more and it would've fallen apart I'm sure.

I think they look alright.  Isn't it amazing though how that fist coat of paint picks up and advertises all the imperfections?  Oh well, a bit bit more PSR is needed I guess.

Another coat of paint... much better.

Is it good enough though? I'll have to check back once it's completely dry.

Thanks!

Also, based on the discussion that took a turn for the better here - http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,45046.0.html

I decided to take a quick little run at a Khemedi Armoured car - which most of you will know better as the Daimler Armoured Card Mk. II

A nice crisp box fresh off the shelf of my favourite store - Neighbour Hobby (http://modelsale.co.kr)

Not a lot of stuff on these sprues, is there?

Cut Cut, Glue Glue... clamp clamp...

and voila! That was easy!~

If it's too easy it feels like cheating, so I decided to drill out the gun barrell, scribe open the front grill and cut open the main view port.  Still pretty easy though.

Shazam! It's green.  I'm still trying to decide if that's the right shade of green though...

Thanks!

That way lies madness.

I notice it wasn't that easy ? After all you haven't drilled out the m.g. barrel ?  ;D

Seriously I'm just in awe of your skills

Plus I forgot how nice a kit that Daimler was. Only problem back in the day was that it was 1/72 and all my other wargame armour was 1/76. Stood out like a sore thumb.

I took some time out from what's becoming a very involved Nausicaa Ohm project to try and get some of the rest of my mini projects done.  I'm still trying to drill out the MG barrell on the Daimler, but the Opel is buzzing along now that the bodywork is finished.

The interior is all finished, complete with the seats, steering wheel and a scratched up dash...

Which, of course, completely disappears the second you put the cabrio top on.  Oh,well, I know it's there. :)

Instead of just painting, i glued on some tiny silver wire for the trim.  Aside from a few shaky miscues, it got lined up well enough in the end.  I hate the unforgiving aspects of CA glue...

I also gave the dual base a test drive. The scene from the book has Tintin chase the bad guys in the Opel with a stolen(!) motorcycle, somit made sense to pair them up.  I'm particularly happy that my trip to the dollar store paid off.  An upside down bamboo tea light candle holder with some plastic on top makes a great looking $2 base.

Thanks!

Coming along really well!

The side vents are more complicated than I was envisaging (i.e. not the flat plates I imagined), but you've made a good job of it.

Have you seen there is a newish Tintin completed from Herge's unfinished final book, 'Tintin and the Alph Art'?

You can read the whole thing online, but I can't find the link at present.

Yes. Cautionary tales of what not to do can be quite valuable learning tools... ;)

Thanks for the link, Rick! I'd heard a "finished version"existed, but hadn't seen it.

I actually have a fun little idea on how to include Alph Art in my build project, but we'll keep that one for a surprise... :)

In the meantime, my little Khemedi armoured car build is almost finished...

I've been transferring my Tintin builds to a common base style (after finding a supplier of cheap $1 wooden trays) so this is the first of the new ones.

While I was glueing on the "final touch" antenna I accidently dropped a blob of CA glue on the little ledge next to the wheel well.  Instead of repainting the whiole thing, I just cut a little cover for it and painted it black to hide the mistake.  Oh well, it's a fictional subject anyway, right?

After a coat of Future I was ready to apply the decals (little flags on the turret) when I realized I needed a white background.  I think I'll take a chance and paint a little white rectangle to apply the decal over.  Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

Greg

And it's all finished.  Probably the most challenging part of this build was painting the little white rectangles that the flag decals needed to sit over.  I wanted them slightly smaller than the decals, but that looked strange to I needed another go at it.

An easy but satisfying build all-in-all.

Thanks!
