I don't know who the first person was to put transfers on finger nails or toe nails but they work with !/72 scale aircraft and tank kits.
There's lots of different varieties  themed wise and for a fraction of the price of decals.
The same principle for applying decals.
I've only used water-based paints but I think enamel should be ok and a coat of clear gloss to seal it.

ive been playing with that same idea for some time now, and have moved that to the testing bench.
i bought some cheap nail decals over on AliExpress, might make a christmas themed model with them :)
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Should be good as nose art or personal emblems on aircraft.
Got an idea for a 1/48 Hurricane it's not mine as the owner wants me to do something for the Remembrance Weekend, I was thinking of spraying the bodywork with white gloss and decorating it with poppies. Hand painted and nail transfers.

Yeah!!! Pretty handy. It offers up a variety of things in another place not often thought of. "Beauty Supplies."

I made a thread around here about some of 'em... somewhere...    :o ;D

But anyway.. I put my money where my mouth was, ordered some, and actually used them!     They're thick... and don't stick quite as well, but I suppose that could be expected of any "self made" (which I imagine the vast majority of these are, rather than professionally printed by some company with the top line equipment) transfers. Especially when this small.

Any how, I ordered up a set of crosses and used them in my "Vatican City versus Transylvania" world. I built a Vampire as a Transylvanian Air Force plane and a G.55 Centaur as a Vatican City Defense Force fighter and used some of the crosses transfers.

Vampire. (The new tool Airfix T.11 by the way, an absolute dream to build)   Sidenote, the port wing has a transfer made in 1943 by the Poster Stamp Company (or some such), the flower lookin thing..   It was delicate putting that nearly 80 year old decal on!!!! You can see... I lost some of it. Anyway, the crosses on the fins are nail art transfers.  (Can't remember if I cleared over the top but if you look closely, you can see the edge)

Vatican City etc etc plane.  The cross in the middle of the numbers letters  ( ) where a roundel might normally go is more nail art transfers. They can turn out quite alright!  Like I said, though... kind of thick and I had problems with them coming back off... definitely a good idea to put a clear coat over the top (per usual).
