I have yet to see anybody build a C-130 Hercules amphibian plane.  I always hear and read about this from time to time in books and elsewhere, but never see anybody make a model.

Lockheed built as large scale radio-controlled model of the project themselves, but I've never seen a plastic model of it either. Time, and a GB, for a resurrection perhaps?

I was actually thinking about doing this but I couldn't find a good donor for the seaplane portion.  The Hercules is pretty wide and every seaplane donor I found was too narrow.

How about a Sunderland? The old Airfix kit should be pretty cheap these days, and it's not exactly small.

Yeah, that was one that I thought of.  I think it's still too narrow, the diagram below should be to scale.

Cut the Sunderland's hull lengthwise and add a "filler" piece of plasticard.  Angle the sides outwards slightly and it should mate with the C-130's hull.   If you need to lengthen the hull, cut it behind the first step and add a section from plasticard (with supports).  Use plenty of filler to make it all match up, PSR, repeat.

Same here, but I don't think I'll be able to dedicate the time.  If I was going to do it, I'd probably carve the hull from balsa.  I've done this for a boat hull and it was surprisingly easy.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Bit of a rare one. Float Rota 1 (cierva c30)

This was the only one in reality. But could be one of a number on board a sea-gyro tender?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
