Hi all,
NARSES has given permission  for me to post this on this wonderful  site (yeah, I know, creep!)
to let you all know the Coastal Command SIG is being reformed HAS been re formed!
For IPMS(U.K.) members, the SIG 'Birth Certificate' is in the current magazine.

N.B. you DO NOT have to be a member of IPMS to join us!! (we had 9 'paid up' members within a week.)

We hopefully HAVE table space at this years (2017) SMW show at Telford.
If possible, we will be next / close to the Bomber Command SIG at shows both groups attend.

Hall 3 Lads and Lassies, please do come over and say hello, and if you've anything you would like to dust off
and loan for the weekend  REAL WORLD only (this year at least, you listening Trevor?  ;D) bring 'em along!
For anyone unsure, just drop me a P.M.

The Command ran from 1936 to 1969, so we could squeeze an early (under test) Nimrod in there, anybody got one?
may even have a space for a Spitfire or two Lee! and particularly if anyone has a Wellesley, London or anything even slightly unusual!
(That's a HELL of a hole I've dug myself................)

I'll post a list of units (R.A.F. / R.N. (F.A.A.) / U.S.A.A.F. and U.S.N. (yes, some U.S. units were seconded)
and equipment in the next couple of days.

The Coastal Command SIG has a dedicated 'home' on the UAMF site, site address is:- http://uamf.org.uk/
but I'll post the same details on here, that way nobody has an excuse!!!!

I'll keep you up to speed as we receive further information. This will be particularly relevant to NON IPMS members,
as those of you already with IPMS(UK) will receive time scales and floor plans via the 'in house' magazine.
If you have been a member of the SIG in the past, and wish to rejoin, OR want to join as it "seems like a good idea"
please send me a P.M. or, at Telford, wander over between burgers and tea/coffee and make yourself known,
we DON'T bite.......but just MIGHT relieve you of food or drink! (Mine? Coffee, NATO standard!)

Paul Brown (deputy SIG leader)

Thank you Jon, just proof that I'm not as good as I think I am!!!  :o

As promised, the list of units and equipment during World War II -

This is intended as a handy reference for those wanting, at a glance, to identify a CC squadron and to know what aircraft were operated by that squadron up to the end of WWII.
The aircraft types are listed chronologically.
Squadrons moved from station to station and these are also listed chronologically, although stations are not repeated when squadrons moved then returned.

Some squadrons were made up of non-British crews and are noted where known.

209 Squadron also operated the Sunderland MkV, not certain about other variants.

Hi Rat,
many thanks for the info, unfortunatly it's blurred lines, I'm afraid.
209 Sqn. operated Catalina's until early '45, while operating the 'Cat' they were under the control
of RAF middle east .
Swopped out the Cat for the Sunderland and control then switched to SEAC................
It's a minefield  :o :banghead: :banghead:

Not a problem, you can become a 'virtual' member
For saying you "don't leave your city limits" I'm at least 3000 miles away, we're not doing TOO bad!  ;D
