Won't be there this year, unfortunately the missus has to work the weekend so someone has to look after the kids.  Have fun all!

Ah that's a shame mate

Cheers guys.  Should be in Huddersfield.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Has a decision been made as to which night we are going for the traditional Chinese stuff-your-face?  ;D

The Wooksta!

I shall be eating at the Ramna Balti House in Shrewsbury both evenings.

It might be more tricky to organise a Friday gathering as it depends on whose there and when, I know we are scattered across the town now for accommodation, and only a few will be actually in the hall on Friday as they are the only ones with exhibitor access for stand set up, others will be travelling and some may not be down till the Saturday.

Some notes for SIG members regarding access - note only set up crew are allowed in on Friday setup and Saturday and Sunday morning via the roller shutter doors. None Set up IPMS members will be allowed in from 9:00 am at the members entrance. The set-up passes are actually Exhibitor passes from what I can gather from discussions on the IPMS Facebook page and are intended for use all weekend by that member so they are non-transferable once assigned.

Therefore those wishing to get their models in via the roller shutter door at Hall 1 before 08:45am on Saturday or during Friday Setup need to arrange contact with Martin and his crew so they can meet you in the car park and transfer the models to the stand.

I'll just walk mine in at 9am on Saturday (I'm an IPMS member now).

Yup, they are the entry wristbands so can't be passed on
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ditto me, after having sat in the car in the car park since 0730 to ensure I don't have to walk from Shrewsbury carrying two BIG models..........

I won't be going as I'm "across the pond" as you gents say, and I'll be going to the IPMS Butch O'Hare Model Show in Chicago, Illinois this coming Saturday. The UK is way too far for me to travel to.
I've always been curious about something though: How does Scale Modelworld compare to the IPMS National Convention here in the U.S.? Is the show in Telford really that big as claimed? Is it that much better than the National Convention?
And also, does SMW have an official Facebook page?
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

PR19_Kit

SMW makes the US National Convention look like local beanfeast, it really IS that big!

It's different in character to a US Convention too, while there is a Competition, with loads of clases, the main emphasis is on displays by IPMS Branches and SIGs, with a lot more traders than you get at a US Convention.

Dunno about an FB page, I don't do that myself.

No idea about a Facebook page but here is a link to the IPMS web site with it's drop-down menu with all you want to know about the event. http://ipmsuk.org/

Please take on board the fact that although the rectangles don't look very large, most of them are two standard tables deep by one wide. Some of the traders, in red, have several single tables next to each other so are thinner.

And yes it's BIG  ;D

You need to ask PhilP Scooterman or Dork, people who have done both so they can put it into context.

I've done both too, but my last US Convention was in the late 90s sometime.

Well, I'm almost ready to set off. Decided at the last minute to do some airbrushing today so I can at least bring something. Only 2 new models this year, both for the What-if table, none for Project Cancelled, thanks to a loss of mojo (first 6 months this year) and lack of time (the 2 months after my summer vacation, just when I'd started work on a nice new project).
