A number of year ago a number of pictures surfaced of an aircraft looking like a Heinkel He-280 with a piston engine. This was rumoured to be the Heinkel He-279 Spirale, an aircraft powered by a DB604 24 cylinder piston engine mounted behind the cockpit.
The aircraft in these pictures wore what appeared to be a standard RLM 70/71/65 camouflage and a fuselage code of a white 8.

Recently a number of new pictures were discovered showing another example of the same aircraft but coded white 7. Although the number is lower than that of the older pictures, the text on the back of one of the photographs indicated that this was the second prototype of the He-279.

This text says: "Heinkel 8-279 Zweites Versuchsflugzeug 2 juni 1944, Warnemunde"

Amazing how those photos have lasted all these years, says a lot for Agfa's chemicals of the time, doesn't it?  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nice to see more of your archival work, Tom.  It is good to know that people like you are seeking out and preserving these rare documents.  The background looks Neu Schwabenland.  Is that the case?
The Leng Plateau is lovely this time of year

It is nice to see pictures of an unknown prototype.
If this is a scale model of yours, not true old pictures, you deserve a double amount of clapping hands... ;)

Ahhh, you caught me  ;D

It's a 1/72 Huma He-280 with a little bit of "redisign".
The photographs were processed in Photoshop using some techniques I found on Youtube.

I like it.  It's amazing what pops up out of the archives.
Do these old documents reveal how this was cooled?  Surface radiators maybe?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The goal was not to catch you as faulty. On the contrary, I would have been a little disappointed if this had been "Real" (just unknown). I prefer raw creations, anachronistic smiling creations

These pictures were originally posted on the now-gone AirWarfareForum around 2005, if memory serves me.
