Great to see folks getting as enthusiastic as I am about this build - Because I've just finished five car builds in a row and because it's coming up to show weekend here too, I've retired from the bench for a few days to give my 'mojo' time to re-charge. Really looking forward to getting back at it toward the end of next week - I may even take the glue to the post-box at the end of the drive so I can get a start on building it as I walk back to the house !!

Stay tuned.

Greater love hath no man for his hobby etc. etc.  ;D ;D ;) ;)

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Kit arrived this morning, I managed to grab a quick look at it this afternoon... very straightforward build, depending upon real-life intrusions, could get it ready for primer as early as Friday. I'll not post too much of the build as it'll look pretty much like every other 'work in progress' thread. Enough talking for now, will make a start tomorrow hopefully.

Progress:

Spinner masked ready for adding the spiral (first time I've tried this). Pit done, straight from the box, the etch belts are included in the kit.

Not too much filling, just the usual places.

More in a min'

All rubbed down and ready for primer.

...and then primed with Xtracolour (matt) RLM02. Decided to go with all enamels for this build - been using acrylics a lot more recently.

Mixed up some greens and a brown for the late war RLM 81/82/83 scheme. Haven't yet decided on how it's going to look in the end, but that's all part of the fun !!. Thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment so far.

Stay tuned.

Hmmm, Austria didn't have a separate Air Force during the war as far as I know, but the idea is worth some thought, cheers...  As it's the weekend, I probably won't get too much done, but never say never, eh ?.

Correct, it was part of "Greater Germany" for want of a better description.

I would say Hungarian but by this stage of the War they'd lost all that rear end colour and looked very similar to standard Lufwaffe subjects.

Ah but post war it could've done something with it....maybe?

The Wooksta!

82/83 uppers with a mixture of natural metal and either 76 or that micey Sky type colour that appeared on some late war Luftwaffe fighters.  Mil 28 Grey/Green is supposedly the best match but RAF Sky is close enough for any whiff.

Markings?  Got to be JG301 as they did supposedly get a few Ta 152Cs but then apply RAF roundels and an Air Min number.  Because the evil scumbags lost.

 Very, very close, Lee, but I'm thinking maybe JG6 - high contrast between the RVB bands and the greens.

As long as they get overpainted RAF roundels.  A British squaddie sitting in the cockpit would look even better.
