1/72 Fairey Ultralight.

at least three examples found their way into SIG hands at Telford.

They flew it from the back of a truck at Farnborough one year.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I was there for that year, and I found this one for the 1949 show, the first one I went to. Right at the end look for the BOAC Solent flying boat, who hasn't heard of 'crowd safety' at  all!  :o

Even better, with the option to build it as either the original Gyrodyne or the Jet Gyrodyne,
which was a modification of the second Gyrodyne prototype.

Quite a few changes, probably as two boxings, but yeah, definitely. :thumbsup:

I think Ill have to get this one.  The Jet Gyrodyne would be top of my list because it'd complete the Fairey tip-jet triumvirate, adding the Gyrodyne would complete the family and be the cherry on the cake.   <_<

Now if someone was to add the Rotodyne Z (and in 1/24 for Fred).....

The major structural components/features were the same, many of the changes made were internal/systems
related, so not obvious externally, from a kit moulding standpoint the heavy lifting is done.

I have plenty of oppertunity for research on the Ultra light. Theres one of em at the Midland Air Museam.
The other is as far as I know at the Helicopter museam at Weston supermare.


The photo was taken in 2012, but shes is still there.

I can find two systems in the variety of different versions: one used a petrol-powered compressor to provide compressed air to spin the blades, the other used a small electric motor.
