I am wondering if the wings, considering it will be a monoplane, have enough surface or should be lengthened. Obviously, it would have been simpler BEFORE I had glued together the upper and lower surfaces.  :banghead:

I can see nothing wrong with that idea at all.  ;D

I've been doing that on one of my 'long build' projects too and it's quite possible. You just need to ensure the dips in the fabric remain sensibly spaced or it looks weird.

Yes, but my worry was strength. Before glueing the wings, I'd have staggered the cuts (upper and lower), now it will be more difficult and messy.

IIRC there's a small gap between the upper and lower surfaces so you could cut a mini-spar from some 30 or 40 thou styrene and glue that in the gap perhaps?

After an hurricane-level cold, having finished blowing my brains through the nose, I have re-re-started my projects.
With a secret technique, learned form ancient Mayas, I managed to do a staggered cut through the already glued upper and lower wing surfaces.

Now, before doing a wing splice, I am consulting my esteemed co-forumers: is this new wingspan too much (it will be a monoplane)?
The pushed forward wingtip is the original one, obviously.

Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Eh? You can't have 'too much wingspan', it's impossible.

You do this and yet your head still fills up again.  Who puts it there is what I want to know?

IMO the length of your wings should only be constrained by either the availability of the extra wings needed to make them or the amount of space in the place where you plan to store it when finished.

I had one a few weeks ago where it felt as though someone had fitted my nose with a tap and left it running

I've got the use of that cold at the moment.......and Madame R is grumbling about the number of handkerchiefs in the wash.

I do the washing chez moi (as I am a bachelor). I could do a washing machine load just from handkerchiefs.

Concerning the build... I decided on a a wing span calculated to conserve the aileron hinges distance regular, to avoid having to re-scribe everything, at least on the upper surface.
And using the full lower wing would have been a bit too much, this is a very serious project, after all!

With the parts cut-off, I could sesquiplanize it, it's a thought. Maybe another land-based build in the future.

That is a very tall hanger.  Former airship shed?
I wouldn't want to change one of those light globes.

I've not seen this before. Amazing looker, quite elegant in it's own way and those wings might even be long enough for Kit ?  ;D Cheers Jon

I saw that HD32 fly at Farnborough some time in the 60s I think. It was truly awesome, and in some views the wings were almost invisible, amazing.

Yep, Hangar B at Tillamook Naval Air Station, Tillamook, Oregon.

The Bellanca is no longer there, it along with the rest of the fylable Erickson collection, John Erickson of
Erickson Aircrane, was moved to moved to Madras, OR, in 2016, over in the dry part of the state, rather
than on the coast. So it's a bit sparse now at Tillamook.
