and I have this 1/200 YB49 in the stash, and also a 1/48 MC72 :

Really nice looking design; but I hope there are going to be wing-tip floats on this, otherwise she's going to be cart-wheeling through the waves, rather than bouncing over them! :thumbsup: :o

Agree with both statements. Has a B&V look to it in my mind's eye.

I had tried the Dornier-like side-sponsoons for stability, inspired by the Boeing reference I gave at the beginning,
but that might look a bit unsufficient?

Yes, with those monster wings the Dornier seawings would seem a tad insufficient. Something like the Catalina's retractable tip floats maybe?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
