I have them as digital files.  They make a wonderfull (house) painting accompaniment.

Ying tong idle aye po!   Agreed!! They make wonderful accompaniment to most things. Both the boys listened to them whilst revising for all sorts of exams. They both ended up with MAs  (insert amazingly proud parent emoticon here) so they must have  a positive effect.

That would be the young...and the cousins across the pond.   Let them wonder at them!  Perhaps it will stir them to learn of the greats of British comedy!

They still play the Goons downunder on ABC Radio early in the morning, I believe.

You'd be surprised at what "the cousins across the pond" are familiar with, largely thanks to Dr. Demento,
who BTW was also an early dispenser of punk on the US airwaves.

Remember seeing and hearing some Goons stuff when I was little but what I really remember was Michael Bentines excellent history of the Battle Of Waterloo on Potty Time, we would have never beaten that Napoleon chappy without the German Panzers turning up in the nick of time!

Yes indeed Nick, I've had it for about a week now, and it's not too bad, but the APT part has a number of errors and I've already been in contact with the editor about it. 

That pic of the APT-P on the cover may well have me on board as it was taken on Dec 7th 1981 (I can tell by the formation of the vehicles...) and I was on it that morning too, the only time I ever rode on a P-Train.

I have British Secret Project 2 - Jet Bombers since 1949 2nd Edition in transit on its way to me, although its not expected till Friday.

From what I gather from Tony's chat at SMW it's not got as much new material as the fighter 2nd edition as less new material has come to light on actual projects, but its in the new format for the series with larger drawings and probably quite a difference in photos. Hopefully more info on the light strike aircraft programmes of the late cold war era.

I don't think that's been split, though. The first edition Volume 3 had the same title.

The British Secret Projects series covers the design and development of UK military aircraft since the mid-1930s with strong emphasis on designs that were never built, particularly those types generated by the various design competitions held. The original Volume Three (Fighters and Bombers 1935 to 1950) has now been split into separate volumes with this book covering fighters and a new Volume Four in preparation solely devoted to bomber designs. This split has allowed space for the inclusion of much new information and many new photographs.

Yeap its been split which makes the series a little bit more interesting....
